    you should at least paint the lowers black while you're waiting to build this thing up. find someone to make you some gold vinyl fox decals too while you're at it.

    for the fork??? NO!

    the fork's got magnesium lowers. toss that in an anodizing bath and you'll be looking at a ton of hydrogen gas and magnesium chloride.

    Mg + 2 HCl --> MgCl2 + H2

    that, and a pissed off ano guy because you told him the lowers were aluminum #-o

    paint or powdercoat only. if you're a real pimp, you may be able to get the stancions re-ano'd in a sick color like bright Gold or Black. probably won't be a slippery though

    Not quite, Vince called me about this one already, but they dont quite use nrmal nipples, they are supposed to use 16mm nipples. the 12mm are doable, but a serious PITA on teh 823's If you use the 16MM you can put the nipple in the retainer, lock the retainer in place, and build away, It will have enough of the nipple sticking out to get ahold of it with ease for the build. If you use the 12mm, youll have to build your wheel a little different, as in spoke in hub, retainer on spoke, nipple on spoke, retainer into wheel, rinse repeat for each spoke, you will also have a limited amount of nipple exposed for truing later. Youll be ok for the initial build while everything is still loose, but once everything settles up, you will be much more likely to roll the nipples during truing.

    On that note, Vince, Did you ever find gold 16mm Nipples?

    ah thanks. I didn't realise you needed the longer nipples. still, though, they aren't anything proprietary, so I don't see why you couldn't find them.

    vince, is it done yet??? ;) :lol:

    I have a couple sets of wheels with 823 rims. The 2 year old set that's seen a lot of abuse has 12 mm nipples. And although I've only needed to touch them up a couple times, there is absolutely no problem getting a spoke wrench on the nipple - the entire nipple flats are exposed.

    Before going to Whistler, I built up another set also using 12 mm gold aluminum nipples (and gold King hubs ;) ), and again, there is no problem accessing the nipple flats. They are a little tedious to build, though, but truing them is the same as any other wheel.

    Oh shit, was I seriously supposed to order them, you never called me back. If I am, I will make sure they get ordered today

    Depends on the nipple, I cant remember the brand my last shop I worked at had, but those sucked ass. We have the DT's and wheelsmith as Cyclery and those do ok.
    But yes, the biggest problem is the build itself if you use a 12mm nipple.

    EDIT.... reason I brought up the nipple size in the first place with vince, is that some shops wont agree to build the 823's without using a 16mm nipple.

Soon it will be done waiting on 1 part. By then you SICK 951 will be built, we will have to ride! Let me know if you need a hookup on SAINT brakes I can maybe help you out.

    iunno if they do make a matchmaker for the ONE :?:

    have you tried switching the hole that the mount screws into the shifter body to get it to fit better? it'll move the shifter about a half inch in one direction if you need to get the positioning right.
