There in Valencia across from Magic Mountain and near Marzocchi, contact Fadi, they have very competitive prices on Ti-Springs

Last week I ordered a spring from Diverse. Ordered online on Tuesday morning, and the spring was at my door on Wednesday. That's quick service! You rarely find that in the bicycle industry!

Lighter weight. In the case of the spring for my M6, I lost 260 grams by going to a ti spring (350#).

lighter weight being the big one. past that, you look like a pimp with a ti spring.

Ti is also supposed to maintain it's spring rate better than steel (which will eventually lose it's springiness). a bit of a moot point though since steel springs are so cheap.

also, Ti springs are supposed to be more accurate in their rated spring rate than steel.

That's arguable. That also depends on the quality of the spring.

The springs are only as accurate as the tolerable design specs. However, because the steel springs used for bicycle shocks are basically considered low grade, their specification tolerance is very wide. This is not a function of them being steel, but simply the manufacturing tolerance. Steel springs can be made to a tighter tolerance (from one spring to the next), but the cost would go up.

    The titanium one?

pretty much, but these are things I have heard and make sense. the only thing that really matters it the weight, and the fact that it looks cool.

short cage, 11-26 or 11-18 cassette, 36T ring would be how I'd do it.

good luck finding a gold XO SS cage though. those didn't come around that often, and they only made them for the 08 model year.

I suppose they are releasing the new gold ones though, but they aren't as classy looking as the anniversary ones...

jonny, that one at wheelworld is the orange version. they have classic (mostly silver, with some red), red, orange, green, pink, and the gold stuff I showed for the 2010 model year.

Is there a way to get the correct #spring for the 951 w/out checking sag ? I know that different frames have different leverage ratio.

Bryan- It "appears" as though Wheelworld does indeed sell the GOLD short cage derailler.

    Click Link http://wheelworld.com/itemdetails.cfm?LibId=53781
Scroll down to see additional colors
Picture "claims" the derailler is in stock
    I'm *HOPING* it's not a typo...

I got the chance to throw a leg over the 951 this weekend. I could still feel some flexyness riding around the pits but not as bad as the M6.
