Went to see the Ortho yesterday and they took another x ray. From what I gather the break is in the middle which is good so it should heal itself with calcium. The latest x ray showed no sign of calcium starting to develop, which really bummed me out. According to the Ortho that is to be expected at this time (Three weeks). He does have me starting PT on Friday to get some movement back in my arm, so hopefully that will help. I go back on April 16th for some more x rays, I hope something shows up then. He thinks that in another week or so I will notice a big improvement. I cant help but think I should have had it plated and pinned, but two Orthos said no. Anyhow sorry for the rambeling but shit this is gettig to be a drag, not being active sucks. Cherers
what a bummer Craig...just be patient man, it'll heal up stronger than before. we'll be waiting to get you back out on the trail again!
Grasshopper Craig Thanks for the update. Sometimes the healing seems to take forever... wait until you pass 65! Hang in there... this will all seem like a bad dream someday... right now use this time to take hikes and appreciate what a beautiful area we live in... reamin positive (I know easy said when you're healthy)... the trails will always be there and so will the tribe.
Don't be so sorry that you didn't get the surgery. The screws impede blood flow to the site of the break, making for a loooooong recovery. Plus, the plate isn't real comfortable ... a year-plus after my surgery, I still have pain after I sleep on my busted c-bone. Anyway, just try to be patient and get lotsa calcium in your diet. Cutting out alcohol also is supposed to aid healing. Hope you get better soon.
