your set up is wrong, the first time a new chain breaks says something, the second time you must listen to what it is saying

does your frame have any chaingrowth? i dont buy it that one brand of chain will break and another will not given the same rider. most of us are not crazy torque monsters.

I agree. It seems like that crankset has the wrong chain line for the bike. If you can't move your chainring inboard due to the chain guide maybe get rid of it since you're running a clutched derailler now.

    +1 on KMC chain.

If its a 10spd cassette go with a 10spd chain, no brainer.

Have you confirmed that you do not have any bent cogs on your cassette?

I also have run a 9 speed chain with 10 speed, using a full X9 and a Sram 991 hollow pin chain. No problems.

Went to turnbull and put the KMC through a nice torture run. Beverly to water tank, 7th loop, Grego's extra steep death climb from hell and out A-line. I ran the bike in granny gear in the rear on all hill climbs to try and break the chain.........It didnt break! While this is only one ride and I need to put some more torture on it I was so happy.

As far as moving the crank towards the granny gear more it cant happen, its bottomed out. before the chain broke I even took out the BB spacer on the drive side (per an option in the manual for 1X drive trains) and moved it to the non drive side to make the cross chaining not as extreme, but its still extreme.

Now the last SRAM part on my bike is the SRAM XO rear cassette that loves to creek.....God I hate SRAM.....

Nah - I bet it's something on the front-triangle. Or anything Tom has to tighten by hand. I've seen him snap a QR lever right off. Tremendous forearm strength. Just sayin.
