Manufacturers ratings are always conservative. Have fun on your fireroads

and you are saying 9spd chain can be used with 10 spd? I have some sitting around the garage I could try. I never had a problem running 9spd but not I put on 10 spd and its a nightmare. I should have just stuck with 9spd

Yet, you are breaking chains left and right. They may just know more than you which wouldn't surprise me in the least. I would say, "ouch" about the fireroads, but, without fireroads, i wouldn't get to Motorway or Holy Jim. Its nice knowing my gear will get me there. Have fun. I will.

...I think the volume level was too low for The Stones and Robin Trower mix. Pump up the volume a bit and add more lights! :?:

Its .03 less wide, of which only .009 is plate thickness?

I'm with MonsterTiki on this. ""I'm not sure a 9 spd chain is stronger than a 10 spd chain. The reason being the plates are pretty much the same thickness, the difference is they are sandwiched a little narrower using a shorter pin.""

The stress in the material is the force divided by the cross sectional area. So, assuming they didn't make the plates any taller, the 9 speed chain would be stronger.

However, nobody here is putting out more power than Cav and he doesn't have a problem breaking chains every time he sprints. If you are breaking chains, your set-up is wrong.

Sounds like the OP has got plenty of suggestions to get his problem solved.
