It was the first time on a Road ride that I had to stop...get off my bike...and sit on the curb ...put my head between my knees....just to reduce the suffering...it was sooo hot that day...quite humbling... I still always just want to get through that section as quick as I can.

I wrote the ride report and it made it into the clubs news letter...and it stuck :)...but isn't really a fond memory

No you need to continue playing on the mountain bike. Remember you have the Coup and the Traverse, which is the definition of suffering to look forward too...

BA sounds like fun. I will need to do that some day.

I'm registered for this, can't wait. I wasn't able to do this one last year, do to an injury. Is anyone interested in doing some riding prior to this one? I like to do some of the great climbing in the Angeles crest. It would be good for the long climbing this one offers.

LOL...I always find an excuse to get off in Damnation Alley. Usually I pretend to fiddle with my iPod.

    Busted. #-o

Why don't you sign up for Breathless Agony, mister? Someday=this year!

I may actually pre-ride the course, or part of it at least. Was thinking of starting at Mill Creek, climbing Oak Glen in reverse of the race course, descending, then climbing Oak Glen, Hwy 38 following the course. Makes it easy to SAG out of your car at Mill Creek after the Oak Glen climb.

I haven't ridden this course before. I'd be down to ride it. When were you thinking of riding it?

I can do it February 6th or February 20th. Let me know if either of those dates work for you and we can plan from there. Between kids and events that I'm riding, those are my only two dates before May. #-o

If you miss this one there is always, "Ride Around the Bear". Not quite as hard but very close to the same route. I think it's about 3k less climbing.

Breathless Agony sounds like it should be the name of a death metal band...so does Damnation Alley
