So, i want to learn how to do sweet tricks, so when i jump, i can bust out a sweet 360 or something. i was curious, would it be easiest to just start on a dirtjumper, and practice these tricks, or would it be eassier and more effective to sart on a BMX bike and once i have the track down transfre it over to a dirt jumper? :-k
i'd rather fall on the jump i'm making in my backyard with a soft landing, than cement  thanks thoguh
Fair enough, but flying out onto a consistent deck is better than sketchy dirt where no two runs are the same. Learn to do three's flat with a tail tap first, then without and you will have them dialed in the air. Recently Rob-O's old Ride BMX how to vid was uploaded, I'll see if I can find the link. http://bmx.transworld.net/2008/04/22/basics-how-to-videos-street-ramps-dirt-jumping-flatland/
the majority of local dirt riders have switched to 26 ers i think either is fine. quarter pipe flyouts are good to learn on especially for 360 tailwhips
Find a nice step up. In fact, at the SSDHC trail I saw some new jumps by the 3 pack (on the way out to the parking lot) sort of. That jump would be perfect to practice no footers etc... PM me for details if you don't already know about them!
my buddy built that to practice 360's, but talking to a guy at work he said that jump isnt an ideal start for tricks.
It has a nice soft landing and Brasko and Big Brad were hitting it doing no and one footers. Looks like a perfect jump to learn on.... quit complaining and get yer groove on! :bang:
I'd just get (actually I did just get) a 26" dj. very versatile, more forgiving in rough stuff, and I know for a fact that you can land in the pit of a jump without too much trouble  or, buy a trampoline and an old beater BMXer. bolt some boards to where the wheels should go, and bounce around learning trick :bang: or build the foam pit. all great ideas
Ill just drive to perris pay my 10 bucks and ride the foam until i geta tick dialed then ride the dirt
You could go about it a couple different ways. A skatepark would work. Just find a good box and just practice them onto the flat top of it until you have it, even use your back tire to help you along, but I prefer to learn it on dirt. Build a fairly steep jump that'll get you some nice smooth hangtime at a slower speed and leave a nice few feet of a wide flat bail area on top of the landing (works best with a table top really). A foam pit would be excellent, but won't help you with sticking the landing. Just remember, it starts with your head, literally. Use your head and shoulders to pull the rest of your body around and the bike should follow you. Just before 270degrees you should already be looking down the landing. good luck!
