Since February and March are often heavy rainfall months, the areas where the outside of the road is calving off should probably be addressed soon.

The trouble is, the road is so heavily insloped that the water is forced to carve long ruts on the uphill side. When it eventually reaches an outsloped spot, it cuts a trench across the road and creates a giant hole at the unreinforced drainage point.

The homemade water bars and trenches are only contributing to this problem, either on purpose or by accident. Some of that can be corrected by hand, but a long-term solution is going to require grading equipment and more sustainable design.

The quick fix is to go out there with sandbags and do some shovel work. All in all most of the road is draining OK. There are enough culverts to get the job done, water just needs to be re-directed to them.

Here's my chance to 'really be' the sandbagger I'm often accused of.

I'll look into getting access with our vehicles so we can haul tools and supplies, and keep this situation from progressing.

In the meantime, these ruts work pretty well as bike stands...

Yes, the choppers looked black to me. I was standing on the trail right below the heliopad. I could see the red instrument panel inside the cockpit as it lifted off.

The trick is to 'ride the rut' the whole way up... drop bars just make it easier not to catch a grip.

(Working on permission to fix the road. Will post in calendar if the request is approved.)
