As long as your bike meets the other requirements 2 chain rings is okay. With so many people replacing their 3rd ring with a bash guard, it seems to be acceptable.

great day guys! gotta ride with most of the people that went at some point in time. had a good time pinning around all day, hitting some rock rollers, and building a realllllly half-assed jump whilst waiting for people to catch up to us

I'm more than happy to come along for the next excursion :bang:

Yes, every year there seems to be quite a bit of ambiguity about the "rules" at BB.

From the current Snow Summit web page:

Any one of the following four factors will disqualify a bike from being transported on the chair:

    1. Bikes must be less than 35 pounds.
    2. Designated tire size must be less than 2.5.
    3. Front shock must have less than 6 inches of travel.
    4. Bikes must have three chain rings unless they are single speed.

I've been up there recently (last year) and at first was turned away with a 6" bike, 36lbs on an accurate scale (they did not weigh), 2.35 / 2.4 tires and two rings plus a bash. Came back 30min later and no one even gave a second look.

Yes, yes, it sucks(?) that you can't bring bigger... but was pisses me off is that the rules seem to change, and often "bend" depending on how well you are known up there.

I first did lift assist up there in the late 80's, and went a few times every year, staying at the condos right at the bottom of the lifts, but anymore I don't want to have to bring more than one bike.

So, I wish they'd just make some rules, and stick to them.

Glad everyone had fun! I keep watching Mammoth, as I am scheduled to be up there for 5 days, the second week in July. Today, the web cam was showing people still skiing! #-o

Good times! Julia12, Slowspokes, Just_me and the Denmo gave the mountain a good beating!!! Being the early arrivers we opted for a quick run while the big group was still getting ready. Unfortunately we didn't make it back in time to converge. We ended up with a small intimate group and everyone had a blast!! The most improved rider award goes to Slowsokes who has become quite the DH ripper! Another season and I won't be able to keep up!!

Julia and Ko have both improved as well and were getting some good tips from Lee!! It's awesome to see more women getting involved on the gravity side. ;-) I forgot to mention we also got to ride with Tony and SuperDKim!!

I apologize for 1) no photos 2) not remembering everybody's names and 3) not hooking up with the mob!

Thanks for hosting a great ride Niel. Good times up there. Sorry I had to leave so soon but i will definitely try to get back up there before it gets loose and dusty:lol:.
Nice to meet a few more people from here and get to ride with them. Thanks Tracy for leading my last run down the trails. I think your directional-finding skills far outweigh mine, but if anyone wants to say hi to the marines, I can show you the trail to where they hang out.

Thanks D-Mo for setting up the ride !

Sorry I did not get to ride with you and Roger more than we did, between mechanicals and flats there were small STR groups all over the mountain.

Made some new friends, Thanks Gabriel for E-ticket tour and Rod for the help patching pinch flat and Johnny Gent any time you borrow a pump, its all about helping each other out and having a good time.

Here's a good shot of Craig on a log jump. He made it look very easy.
