Anyone know if there's anything ride able around Big Bear right now. Going up there this weekend and was wondering if I should bring my bike. Thx.
Polique Canyon loop on the north shore is the best bet right now. About 12 miles with a long fire road climb, followed by a fast descent back to Fawnskin.
If you can look out and see snow in the mountains east of Mt Baldy on Mt Islip, Mt Waterman, and Mt. Wilson chances are most all high country riding will be fat bike time.
i live up here. sart is ridable and so is everything on the N shore. resort side still has snow on the ground
Just got back. It was sunny, day time temps in the mid 50s, nights in the low 30s high 20s. Still lots of snow on Snow Summit. Everything on the north side of the lake is mostly snow free except for patches. RR here : http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/62981-big-bear-3-10-12-a.html#post904561
Glad You had a great time up here, looks like the USFS will be shutting down access to the south end of that trail for a while : http://kbhr933.com/current-news/draft-created-march-9-2012-1006-pm/
