Thanks for the invite! I will be there with my Bear Bell on! :)

I can fit 4 people and 2 bikes but if I can find an extender for my Thule T2 and make it a T4 then I can fit 4 people and 4 bikes :)

Big bear should be awesome next saturday! I did a last minute trip yesterday and it was great. When I got there in the morning summit delayed opening due to weather conditions being windy and cold at the top. It Was around 18 degrees F in the morning with fog, drizzle, and some snow flurries. We decided to shuttle the first run due to the lifts not being open. Glad a I brought a heavy flannel and jeans because the shorts and jersey I was wearing weren't gonna cut it.[IMG]
On some of the trails there are still some downed trees blocking paths so some maintenance is needed. Otherwise the dirt felt awesome and when the lifts opened up around 10 or 11 they knocked 10 bucks off the price. Should be very fun on saturday.

Still not sure if I can make it or not, but I had to laugh at this from the main page:

I know for a fact that I am in MUCH better control when riding a downhill bike versus my do-it-all bike. Help me understand how banning DH bikes on the legal trails equates to greater liability and forest damage.

In other words, I have a hard time believing that riding a short travel, twitchy "XC" bike down a loose and semi-steep/rocky trail like Fall Line is less dangerous than riding a downhill bike.

A lot of the DH bikes were spending time riding illegal trails and cutting new trails.

They want you to stick to the fire roads and the couple legal trails.

By not allowing DH rigs on the lift, Snow Summit is not responsible for them.

By not allowing DH rigs on the lift, Snow Summit is discouraging riding off trail.

They are not gonna change.....get over it......sorry to sound so blunt. YOu want lift access for your DH rig....do elsewhere.

Better yet, talk with your $$$$. Don't give them any.

I was up there on Saturday, did 25 miles and didn't use the lift once. Rode the singlespeed and had a blast.

Was up in Big Bear this past week and had a blast. Rode all over - Plantation, Trick or Treat, Pine Knot, Fern, Upper and Lower Fall Line, Hannah Flat, Gray's Peak, Exploration trail, etc. Crazy cold on Sunday. Here are a couple of pics from the top of Plantation at 2N10 in the early morning on Sunday.

Would you want to come? I dont want to do the John Bull without at least one other jeep. Ive only got an LSD in the rear and 31s. I know how to the piss out of that jeep. But in the event that I do get stuck, Id like to have at least someone there to help.

We had to self shuttle due to the delay in the lifts opening. It's actually not a bad shuttle. Forgot the name of the trail but it was the trail to the right when you get off the lift. The one with the log roller thats close to 4 feet tall. Than we linked that too the trail that has that jump next to the logs before another log roller. We timed it perfect because once we got down summit opened the lifts. The trails to the right had lots of debris as we found out, while the trails to the left like fern, fall line, pirates were in great condition.

Yes it's snow, but the picture is deceptive as the snow was only in the trees. It will more than likely be all melted by the weekend.
