While I live in singletrack heaven with pretty much every type of riding I can wish for, if i would drive to one trail that I really love it would be Red Box to JPL via the Gabrellino trail and if i wanted to be really stoked i would try and throw in El Prieto or a want to do is JPL to Red Box and back again.
Now that is trail riding for me.

    Mt Pinos is my favorite.

I climb the road up for 9 miles, then ride the singletrack 2500' down.

When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, I would ride Whiting two or three times in a row on the old GT Avalanche LE (circa 1998).

Quite simply Camp Nelson / BC is a challenger for best trail in the state and maybe the nation. There's nothing like riding in and amongst the trees in Sequoia.

    But...it's not in SoCal.

I know, Jeff, you want to hang with the cool kids at Zuma with your cut off jeans, your just styled mullet, and that surfboard under your arm; but, I hate to break it to you buddy, Kernville ain't SoCal.

So, keep building your kicka** backyard in Central California and embrace who you are as you cruise the streets of Kernville on Friday nights in that bitchn' souped up 1980 TransAm with the two kid seats in the back. (And yes we let you hang with us because we secretly wish you would let us ride your backyard.)

My trail suggestion for this thread is Tunnel (before the fires) and Up Romero to East CC and Down Cold Spring Trail in SB. Absolutely awesome views and technical climbing (before the dozer fire sanitation, it'l come back) and world class DH descending.

Tom, are you calling me a redneck?

    OK, maybe I am.

Norcal says we are Socal. Socal says we are Norcal. Nobody wants to claim us. I will try to console myself by going for a ride.

Not necessarily the best but here are a couple that everyone should at least try:

    1. Santa Cruz Trail - Santa Ynez Recreation Area/Santa Barbara (Imagine a five-mile long "Luge")

    2. Ramona Trail - Up near Hurkey. Definitely worth a run.

    3. Hahn/Buena Vista/Claire Burgess - Awesome Desert ST. Great winter riding.

    4. Backbone Trail - Santa Monicas. Pretty much any section will be fun.

    5. The Standards: San Juan Trail/Noble Canyon/SART

Maybe this is just fresh in my mind but I'd have to agree. Earlier I would have put anderson and palm canyon near the top due to fun / epicness respectively but this puts them both to shame. Its on par with some of my favorite trails at home in BC which says a lot

Out of sympathy we'll claim you . With trails that sweet you can put that camaro up on blocks if you want. Heck, that would make another sweet feature for the backyard.

Holy HAB! All sweet trails that you can usually enjoy without another biker to see all day. Some day I would like to check off the cactus to clouds.
