^^I guess you actually ride your bike, my Turner just sits on my couch mainly ;)

The BGs I had were there top of the line model, so maybe only their high end shoes have any durability. This is the one I'm currently eyeing:

^^Looks like those are more durable...

the ones I have are covered in mesh in the toe area...now there is a huge hole on one side where it ripped open!

So, I'd say, no mesh = a good thing :)

Thanks for saying I'm cool, but now you have no cred.

How do you feel about the Adidas shoes like the Minret and the El Moro? Have you tried on the Shimano MP66 shoes? How about the Specialized Tahoe?

We will order shoes just for you to try on. That is one of our plays for sure.

I have the same problem as Stef. My Big S shoes are ripped on both feet where the toebox mesh is. I also smashed a buckle at Chiquito with Marshall Willanholly this last weekend. That was fun trying to get the shoe off #-o They have been comfy and realiable shoes though.

    Cheers, Andy

Specialized has a pretty good waranty. How old are all of these shoes that are comming apart?

Sidis last a long time, but they take some braking in to be comfy for me. I do not fee that the Sidi shoes provide good toe protection, and they do not hike real well. All items have drawbacks...

Those Spec trail 120 shoes are not durable. The 110s may be better.

I really like my Adidas El Moro's. They're stiff, have good traction for HIB's & they're very comfortable.

    Also like the Specialized 110's

I LOVE Specialized shoes. I had some of the older suede type "sports" and those things have lasted me over 5 years.

I got the newer ones that are leather and mesh. Been riding them for 2 years now. The fit is great, no problems with the soles. But I just noticed I just punched a hole through the mesh right where my pinky toe is. Other wise the shoes are great, they just need to put leather right there around the toe.

I'm just going to put some duct tape on it. :)

Mega Sidi Dominators maybe next time, but I need to absolutely kill my Specialized shoes first. Which I think could take awhile except for the little hole in the mesh.

Good topic. I need some new shoes as my cheapo Answer Impacts are pretty shredded after 9 months. They aren't that comfy either now that they have been worn in.

I want a shoe that is comfy and lasts a while without laces. I would rather spend more for comfort than going cheap. I have learned my lesson.

I've had my Specialized shoes for about 8 years now!!!

Not sure what model they are...they are tan/green, and resemble a low-top hiking shoe/tennis shoe cross. Lace-up only.

I have nothing to compare them to...but they are wide (I have wide feet) and they have lasted 8 years so far!

I know the ones you are talking about. Those were great. They don't make em like that anymore. We got a bunch when Specialized was liquidating them, and had them around for years.

Yeah those El Moro's caught my attention. Can you get a 13 for me to try? Now that I think about it the mp66 are cool too.

Does the Path carry the Specialized 110s? If so, will you do mail order? I'm having a hard time finding these.

Ended up with the Shimano SH-MP66.

Good call Tani, you're right, they're way comfortable. Thanks!

Sidi Dominators are the way to go for SPD compatible shoes. Look around on your next ride...about 50-75% of people are wearing them...for good reason. They work and they are comfortable.

Tani at the The Path helped me out and I chose the Specialized Pro. I tried many other stores and no place did I get the kind of help I got with Tani. I never really considered The Path for shoes before as their display is kind of small, but they have a lot of stock upstairs in their store room. One piece of advice...don't fall for the smoking price that Jenson is offering on their top of the line Lake Shoes. I bought these last month and the soles fell apart after one month.

I bought my previous pair of Shimano MTB shoes at Sport Chalet. Finding anything in my size ( 48 ) is hard enough and finding one that feels good is even more rare.

Strange that Shimano calls their 48 an equivalent to size 13 - USA. I just replaced my four year old Shimano #036's with a Specialized MTB Comp in size 48, but Specialized calls size 48 equivalent to size 14.5 - USA.

I would mail order only if I had tried or owned that shoe previously as sizing consistency is lacking.

My new Specialized MTB Comp's have the ratchet on the top strap (which I like), but the Sport model just uses three velcro straps. The Comp's also have two removeable soccer cleat type studs up front for optional added traction while HAB'ing, but I feel these may be a double edged sword while scrambling across rocks and crossing creeks. Time will tell.

Specialized uses the "boa" type system sometimes found on snowboarding boots on it's highest end models.

Everybody's feet are diifferent, but I found the latest Specialized offerings to be pretty comfortable and not too narrow in the toe box like many typical cycling shoes.

Anyone know who carries a good selection of 661 MTB shoes specifically the 2008 Flight Shoe. I'm in need of a new pair and would like to try one on. I hate buying online, because I could have a problem with the fit. Would like to try out some Sidi's as well. Thanks.

661's website doesn't list the weight. They cost $139.95 on their site.
