Went to ride the luge on my on-one summer season, was cruising up modjeska grade, got a stick stuck in the wheel, exploded my rear derailer and bent the rear section of my drop out and derailer hanger into the rear wheel, bent it somewhat back to ride back to the car and it bent into the wheel agian.

Im not sure if i trust it, if i get it straight agian and try to ride it. Its steel, but steel snaps too.

    well it definitely bent......

try sticking it in the vice or using some plate on each side to squeeze it back. You could always weld a gusset on it once you get it straight again... but you would have to heat treat no?

Is the hanger replaceable? Hard to tell from the pic.

Straighten it! It won't break off like an aluminum one will (on the first couple bends). If you can, buy or borrow a Park DAG-1 to straighten and align it.

bummer... maybe something to do with the dropout riding on the QR knob and not the axle? :?:

but still, I say figure out a way of making a replaceable der. hanger for it. perhaps something along the lines of the black market hanger for the slot drop riots/mobs

If it was just the hanger, the thing that scares me is the whole back of the drop out is mangled with it, and it has already bent into the casette and back twice when i was trying to get down the hill

It's steel. It'll be fine. If it were torn off completely, you'd just have to buddy up to Hugh (or possibly Lee) to weld/braze it back on. You *may* need to pound on it with a hammer a bit on something really flat to get it straight again. I would leave the dearaileur bolt in it to keep the hole & threads form deforming.
