Too bad you didnt get it on film, it would be great for that new Fox special "When Rakes attack". Either way, the score sits like this; Rake: 1, Mankind: 0

Hope your ribs are alright man!!

I am just glad the rake didn't impale me. That would have been a bad attack.

Upon further discussion, Linda's response has become, "What the hell were you thinking riding down that hill with a rake on your bars? Are you retarded?" She's so compassionate...

Goes to show you that strappin anything on "your bar" and going down is a bad idea..;)

I guess that it's close enough to the typical "I told you so" speech.#-o

Good to see that you're well enough to make it back to the house and have the energy to biatch about it on the web.
You might want something with a little more alcohol content to kill the pain.:drunk:Heal up dude!

    Grasshopper Sam....

Isn't it amazing how the wife can quickly point it out when you do something stupid.... they know us so well... that we are all little boys and girls in grown up bodies that do stupid things (very human). Hopefully the ribs are not cracked, separated or broken... just bruised. But if they aren't, know that you will heal faster than the ordinary man as you are in better condition and heal faster... although a couple weeks off the bike and you really get antsy.

In the meantime, healing prayers for you....

Survey says: 3 cracked ribs, severely bruised hip, and bruised shoulder.

As with any rib injury, there's not a damn thing the docs can do for it, so it's just rest, ibuprofen, and ice. At least I get today and tomorrow home from work. Too bad I can't ride, but I didn't plan to ride this weekend anyway (out of town) so timing is ok.

Bummer Sam. I'm with you on the ouchie ribs, though my crash did not involve rakes or 29ers. I thought about getting ex-rayed, but I also think what's the point? You can't put a cast on ribs!

In any case, heal up quick!

Wow, that sucks, Sammy! It's been a busy week for injuries. WTH!
Get lots of rest and tell Linda you need lots of pampering and massages. Milk the sympathy card, although I have a funny feeling it's already been long exhausted! :?:

I have some prescription Vicodin generics you're welcome to. I offered them to Danny-boy but he said he's gonna "Harden-the fock up and then suck it up". Not exactly sure what he was referring to but I didn't go there to find out.

yeah, i am starting to realize that rib x-rays are somewhat pointless. there is always the lingering fear that a rib could be really broken and pierce some organ. unlikely, i know, but i still think about it.

that's like telling me I need to breathe. it's understood.

Doc called me today to let me know that the radiologist reviewed my x-rays and I have a broken 8th rib. The treatment is the same (ice, Advil, rest), but the doc said the break should heal in 8 weeks and to take it easy. I'm still riding, but I promised Linda I won't crash. Broken ribs suck.

On the plus side I got my wheel back from the Path all built up and ready to go, this time with a beefier Flow rim.

Sorry to hear the news, Sam! There's definitely something in the water with all these injuries of late. I took a nasty spill last week. No broken bones, but I'm going to need to get an MRI on my right hip.

    Healing vibes to you
