That's one of my points, it's NOT your lane. When you come to terms with this it'll be easier to accept. I know I'm being "trolled" in but I can still get across what needs to be known. Bikes are considered moving vehicles and have a lawful right to the lane. The division between MTB'ers and roadies does none of us any good. A lot of MTB'ers ride road bikes and a lot of roadies ride mountain. Causing a rift between us as cyclists accomplishes nothing but division of our united power to get things done to benefit us all. I wonder why some of us can't figure this out?

Proraptor you ever ride the Fully Loop? B/c well, you're no different than any roadie with rights to the street while you're riding Fully.

I am well aware that the intent of this thread was only to rip on roadies and start a flaming war. Typical mtb vs roadie vs mtb vs whatever you make of it.

I ride the loop all the time but I dont ride in the middle of traffic lanes. If I decided to j-ride across the street I give the large heavy cars the right of way. I wouldnt expect them to stop for me

The newbie ride was awesome. I love exploring new places and find that newbie rides are the perfect rides to do so. The slower pace lets you study the map and find extra credit trails. Next time I go back it will be easy to navigate the place.

Oh and no I wont go out with you.

Yes I know bikes are considered moving vehicles and have a right to use the lane but do you really think a real housewife of orange county thats late to her tanning appt cares?
Use the lane and its a matter of time before you get ran over its simple. Heck Im not even a fan of using the bike lanes. I use the sidewalk whenever possible. People out here in california are only worried about themselves. They arent thinking about bikes on the road.

If I'm taking the lane and get run straight over, the person who did it is a sociopath. You can't plan around that.

You know what I call a driver who is angry at me? That's a driver that knows I'm there.

As cyclists on the road we're all in this together. Its not about stopping cars it's about drivers giving us safe space.

If you want to drive and cruise unaware without considering any other traffic on the road. Then you need to drive a different vehicle. It's called a train that rides on tract.

Every road doesn't have a protected lane. Does that mean we shouldn't ride on them bc the cars will need to slow a little or wait to safely pass?

I would hope at your noob ride at the luge your group takes the lane coming down Live Oak Canyon. That road is narrow with no shoulder and a concrete barrier.

Rad, exploration rides/newbie rides are awesome I hope you didn't think i was trying to demean you by putting "newbie/social ride" in quotes. I'm glad you and the group had a blast. The ride report made it look pretty fun.

Darn I was hoping you would go with me to the prom. :-(
