I'm going to catch the last 3 stages. My mom's house is about 100 yards from the course in Thousand Oaks, so I'll have a nice 'home base' on the final day. Downloaded the Tour Tracker app for iOS last night so I'll be able to watch live video of the last 2 hours of the stage and not just have to stand around and catch 30 seconds of race.

Could use some recommendations on a good place to try to hang out on the Claremont/Baldy day.

What's a iOS? I'm guessing iphone operating system?
My plans with some friends for the Baldy stage is to park in the village and bring our bikes. We will watch the the riders climb from somewhere around Glendora Ridge Road. After they pass, ride up to the finish and catch them there. Can't wait!

I am going to watch the Baldy stage. Will probably park at Icehosue Canyon early in the mroning and then either walk to the finish line were you can see the finish and they sometimes have a big screen where you can watch the rest of the race OR ride to the first KOM and then ride as far up the lifts to see them pass. Any other suggestions?

KOM is the place, I was at the top of the Rock Store last year by the Trojan dude the green thing and Adam & Eve. The top of a grade separates the men from the boyz

Manker Flats, somewhere past the Camp Store. You'll be able to see the last 1/4 mile straightawayto the finish

I followed the whole tour last year. KOM's are about the only place you can recognize riders- those guys are really, really fast.
I think Baldy will be a complete zoo with early road closures.
    Get there early!
I might give it a try.

Parking at a park-n-ride at dawn in Claremont somewhere near the 10 or 210, ride up to Baldy Village at dawn early with a chair, a chilled six-pack, some sandwiches, and a tub of chalk to hand out to the masses so we can show our support for whoever. Since its non-permanent, non-toxic, and easily cleaned, we should get some pretty good art going in the morning.

Then depending on the mood after the pros pass Baldy Village the first time, ride further up the switchbacks to be a part of the zoo near the top.

    Should be a full day.

Carefull, the pros only go through Baldy Village once. The first climb up Baldy Road turns just before the village - hate for you to miis them!

Yeah iOS is the iPhone/iPad operating system.

I trying to decide between driving up early early or trying to ride up. Riding would be preferable but humping up all the extra stuff might kill me. Never ridden to Baldy before.

I plan on parking the motorhome on a turnout the night before, then, of course, watching the race the next day. If any of you guys or girls plan on riding up, feel free to stop and get a cold drink.

I heard Baldy road is going to be closed Friday night for Saturday's stage which starts at 11:45 am. That seems a little overkill. Has anyone else hear about this?

I was on Rock Store with friends last year. They had parked their motorhome in a turn-out 3 days before the race... Not sure how many turn-outs are available on this stage, but the night before might not get you a spot.

Also, the bike is your friend. My wife and I parked away from the traffic zoo and rode-in on our mountain bikes. Super easy access and when the race was over, we zipped through the traffic with ease.

I was thinking about parking at Glendora HS and riding up to Baldy to watch the finish. I was planning on going up early Saturday morning, bring a backpack with some sandwiches and some drinks...
I'm not sure if they close the road to all traffic or just cars.

Emailed these guys. Time to get some info out of them. I went to Palomar a couple years ago and it took too long for spectators to get the final word on road closure and such. Start emailing until they give up the info.

Plan is to get a campsite at Manker on friday nite...but that seems like a longshot given that it's a small site with no reservations. Otherwise, I'll just truck it up Friday and park along Manker Flats and sleep in the truck bed.
