UPDATE: No surgery. Just a sling. Physical therapy in 2 weeks, then regain range of motion 6 weeks after that. I was the third mtb accident in their office today.
Good luck and good healin. I crashed last 9 days ago in mammoth and had surgery for a broken clavical this past sat. It suks being off the saddlem take care
I'm no DR. just a crazy old guy, but watch that sling. When I broke my elbow, and my sports med, ortho guy, saw the sling that the clinic had me in, he about went nuts. He said I really wanted to keep the mobility go asap, or risk losing it. No surgery is always good to hear though.
Healing vibes your way bro. We've all sacrificed flesh and gear to the MTB gods who reign over Rock-It. Sanjay's da man.
Good luck and speedy recovery! I've fallen so much lately I am going to wear full armor constantly - and I mean off the bike as well. Heal that arm and get back on the horse.
Well it was just therapy that he recommended as the pain subsided. No official sessions are scheduled. I have been feeling out the arm for the first time today. It feels ok, I definitely know what NOT to do. Work will probably have to set me up with a different keyboard setup. My laptop is actually typing nice right now..............1/2 hour after a vicodin. lol
Rock-It got me this weekend too! Rode Aliso 5 times in the last 3 years and never wrecked. Hit a rut around the middle, going to slow and not leaned back enough and went OTB. Banged up my bike good, ended up breaking the rear derailer hanger. As far as my body goes, banged my thigh real good, its swollen up, shoulder is banged up, cut on my nose and my wrist is either sprained good or maybe broken.... Went down to Beachcomber bar to drink all day and kept ice on my wounds!
Back at work. Ergo keyboard and adjustable armrests are awesome. No real pain in a few days. Time to start working on range of motion.
Hope you have a speedy recovery. I went otb couple times at Rock It too. That's why I'm forcing myself to wear elbow pads now [-o-]
Sorry to hear Randy. All hell breaks loose when I leave town! Pat and I have some mtb videos you can borrow if you get bored.
Randy, I have a beach cruiser you can use if you want. Your riding position on it would not put any pressure on your elbow at all.
Thanks man! I think I will be ready in 2 more weeks. I see the ortho next monday and he's just going to tell me to start regaining range of motion. Then it's time to start regaining strength.
