Hope you heal up quick... years ago I spent 4 subsequent years healing from various injuries and subsequent surgeries. At some point I had to realize "how much is it worth for a second of thrills?" I still love riding and the challenge of a good climb but crazy, gnarly downhill stuff... not so much anymore. I think of all the metal in my body and then realize it ain't worth it. Hope you don't get to that point but if you do...no shame in taking the easier path down!

    Take care!

Looking at that, I'm guessing surgery with bone grafts and a plate. Alternatively, rub some Robitussin in there.

I would rather have ridden and be broken than to never have ridden.

Good show. Mend on up and start testing parts again soon.

Thanks for the pick, now I know why he isn't texting back. Wiping will be a problem though.

little update.. so yes.. both my wrist are broken.. the right one you know and see from the xray.. no surg planned.. yet... they reduced the fx and its aligned pretty good. im in a long arm cast for that wrist(hand past the elbow) in about a week i go back in to see if it moved or fusing straight. that will be the indication for surg..

as for my left wrist.. is a single fx to the navicular bone.. which is the most common fx to the wrist and also the hardest bone to heal on the body due to minimal blood flow. tx is a short arm cast( hand to forearm) and hopefully it fuses.

thanks for the good vibes.. best case is ill be out of these cast in about 6 weeks.. then pt.

and as for wiping mah butt! i still have full function of my fingers..

    Update..

Doc visit went good today.. new xrays showed the bones are setting in place and have not moved. So they didnt have to rebreak/ set it or have to do surgery. Also in 2 weeks they will cut down my long/ full arm cast I have on my right to a shorter cast below the elbow.. So complete time of all cast removal will be the first of June. Only issue will be if something doesnt set or fuse correctly.

You got help at home? Damn, that was the worst thing about being single and busted-up - trying to move food around and doing simple things like laundry.

Have they talked about what kind of grip you'll be able to make after this all heals?

    Good luck bro'.

Ok.. after 6 very very long weeks of having both my hands, wrist and arms in casts with bi-weekly ortho visits with xrays. Both cast were cut off today! Woot! Im free! well sorta. The sorta part is that I have to wear removable soft casts for another month. Ill take these any day over those freak-en torturous hard cast. During the next month I will be working on ROM (range of movement). If everything goes well I should be back on th bike by July. In th mean time I bought a recumbent stationary bike to get back into shape..

Its a step toward normal. Wish me luck kid

Glad to hear the hard cast's are off. Take the time to fully heal, you'll be glad you did. You'll be back on dirt before you know it.
