broke my wrist in 3 diffrent spots.. 2 on the radius and 1 the ulna!!!

Was at Santiago Oaks today.. coming back to piss on the baby 5 footer that got me last time 2 years. So I was riding my small bike for the climb and hit a few of the other drops i didnt due before. Felt great and came upon my stupid nemesis. So to piss on it I completely bypassed the small 5 footer and hit the larger 8 footer first..(mind you I hit double that with out blinking)I pedaled in and launched it far.. too far.. landed fine though and rolled out.. but at my speed i was going way to fast to make the sandy sharp left. As i tried to turn on my xc tires it just pushed and dug in so i ditched the bike and rolled right. All good till i noticed my face with my xc helmet heading toward a big boulder. Self preservation to the face/head, I threw my arms/hands.. arms hit took most of the blow, then my helmet, face and chest followed. Then the walk of shame down the whole trail followed.

so here i am.. hours later, arm in a cast, doped up and drinking beer(stone ipa) . Waiting for tomorrow for my ortho specialist to tell me what my road to recovery will consisted of..

Damn man...that looks worse than my busted wrist on 9/09. Needed a plate and 6 screws. My wrist still doesn't have full range of motion (can't do push ups), and I dread hitting dirt wrist first again.

Work hard on your therapy, and get your range of motion back!

Sorry to hear about your misadventure at the Oaks. My friends and I were at the Oaks on Saturday morning for a group ride. One of my friends went OTB on Braham Ridge. We also saw another rider crashed at almost the same place on the ridge.

Stay safe out there and healing vibe to you my friend.

    Cheers,

My prognosis? 4 weeks in a hard cast and then 2 in a lace up/soft cast. Followed by 2 physical therapy appointments where they will prescribe strengthening exercises.

At least that's the prognosis my ortho gave me when I broke my wrist 2 weeks ago today.

Sorry to see this. Seems like there are a couple important lessons in your tale:

#1 - Never attempt to get revenge on the trail, as Mother Nature always wins sooner or later.
    and
#2 - Always keep good beer in the house. Sometimes you need it, and then sometimes you NEED it.

Good luck - hope you heal quickly & fully!
