Im here once in a while, ride my bike when I can. life is good... btw I miss Gabe's posts!!! THey was cool...
I used to post more ride reports. Here are some of the more popular or at least the highlights of my time here on STR: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/45025-i-seem-have-run-out-road.html http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/36260-real-mountains.html http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/28347-snow-ride-08-a.html http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/general-discussion/25893-rtr-views-road.html http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/ride-reports/20421-el-moro-poker-ride.html http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/general-discussion/20590-new-record.html
Here when time allows. Do not have the ability to ride much, ankle completely overhauled last year (ligament reconstruction) and Knee surgery( lateral patellar reticular release) in December that left the knee worse that before. I find it frustrating to see that I finally have the bikes I have always wanted and can no longer ride them, let alone walk up my stairs. Still pop on here and see what others are up to but without riding there are no ride reports to post
I'm here for the chatbox. Like said earlier, somehow my pics/RR's have found there way onto Facebook instead.
Still here, still riding. I drifted off for a bit earlier this year and one wiley mistress of the dirt emailed to ask why I hadn't posted lately? I had just gotten completely sidetracked and overwhelmed, between the high school races, keyesville classic and CORBA. I posted a ride report a few days later. Since taking on more volunteer and advocacy work, I've had less time to get online both here and on OTB, but I do check in every day or so, lurk and thank and occasionally comment. It's also nice to be able to give back a bit, helping others, sharing info and entertaining. I really like being able to post ride reports or videos that show trails or possibilities others may not have considered. I really enjoy being a part of the STR community and appreciate everyone I've met and everything I've learned through STR. It's a great complement to our more localized OTBMBC community, and there's plenty of crossover. Our OTB rides are always posted, so I don't cross-post them here. We've seen the same thing on the OTB boards as well, as people use more FB and other mediums to communicate and connect. I'm here for the long haul
I was talking to Geronimo about this just a few weeks back. Seems like there is an evolution to the site visitor. You lurk a while, then you post questions, then ride reports, then you start answering questions (do i really have to change my cassette when I change by chain, Rear Der HELP?, why do people hate 29ers?, etc), then you start to notice the whole process recycle itself and by that point you've found the core group of riders that you get along with and tend to just post to them either here or on a private forum. Its the way of the STR journey. That said, i still haver STR as my home page and do a quick scan everyday to see if something catches my eye or to post a new video or RR. I love RR's...I think they are the most imortant part of the site, besides the friendships. 2 thumbs up for STR. and thanks to jfsh for turning me on to it.
Its been so long since I've posted here. It's been really long since I've gone for a mountain bike ride! I made the switch to road about a year ago...haha I think the mtb needs to be taken out on some trails. Anybody up in the West-LA area care to ride? I just usually lurk here from time to time. Good to see the regulars are still here and of course all the new members as well.
too many post getting abruptly locked or moved or merged or deleted or just mysteriously disappearing?
Left for a while, started lurking again, and now looking almost daily to see whats up. This thread got me checking some old threads from a few years ago. Ah, memory lane. Thanks STR!
I miss riding with you, you tattooed scum bag. :steppie: Yes another Wrightwood day would be excellent. Maybe you could find find another route that is mostly uphill...not!
If you can answer the question: Where does Steven Jackson work? You're a vet. What's more important in my opinion though, is taking part in the discussions, joining in on a group ride now and then, and just acting like a decent human being on-line. And by the way, I'm still here, Dave.
I haven't been a member nearly as long as most posting here but for me the issue is I live at the most northern area in Ventura County. I would like to ride a lot of the cool areas that are posted in the southern part of socal but it's just not feasible. I roll out my front door into Sycamore Canyon in Point Mugu and I've become lazy. I'd like to come to lower Socal and ride some of the cool trails that are posted on this fine site. Carry on.
