How about "We won't be mastered by no northern b******s, and we'll keep the blue flag flying high...."

I initially felt the same way so I replayed both in slow motion from my DVR several times.

He was definitely on. The player right in front of the goal (on both goals) kept him on. Easily level on the first goal and on by a step in the second IMHO.

All in all, I think the CR got the important calls right.

We'll cross that 'bridge' when we come to it

Consequently there is one small casualty from the Chelsea win. After Essien's goal in extra time (before offsides was ruled) I jumped up to celebrate and smashed my kneecap on a table. It's really starting to sing now, a little swollen, and it's making popping/cracking noises. Ouch.

Lubo, get those pics from White Hart Lane up here stat!

Sorry to hear that, Gary. I'm still waiting on my buddy to send me the pix from the game. He took them w/ his phone and better not have erased them! I'll fly to Marylebone and kick his butt! :) I'm itching to get those, believe me!

Nasty break and a cruel end to Chelsea's match and campaign today.

Yes, it was an ugly end that fortunately had no consequences on the season. We were fighting our way back all season long so I wasn't expecting anything, and with everything that happened to Chelsea this year, I think this year is still a success. There's still one trophy left....

Although this is about 2 months after the fact, I wanted to say a huge "THANK YOU" to Gary/aka G-Ride for hooking me up with tickets to the Spurs - Boro match at White Hart Lane back in April. He e-mailed his buddy and they actually came to my hotel in London to pick me up with tix in hand and dropped me off at a Subway Station. That was way cool! Thanks again, Gary.

Pic quality is not the greatest since my buddy took them with his cell phone, but you get the idea and how close to the pitch our seats were - 9 rows up! I forgot my camera - I landed at 11:30 am and the match was at 2:30 pm, so I was a little rushed...

Now c'mon Spain fot the Euro!

    Lubo

I'm glad Spain prevailed given the type of football Italy has played in this tournament. It's more or less the same as Italy plays in other tournaments, but so many of the other teams in this tournament have played attractive and entertaining matches so far.

I'm looking forward to Spain vs. Russia.

Should be a good game on Thursday-hopefully wide-open. I'm sure Russia will be looking for revenge from the group stage loss. I was surprised how good they looked against the Dutch.

I started watching the match pulling for Holland, but started pulling for the Russians as the game went along. They got a much deserved and surprising win.

I thought the Dutch were the team to beat, after the way they played in the group stage. The back four looked really slow against the Russians.

Some serious upsets in this series. Turkey will for sure get steam rolled on Wed due to injuries and the ejections they have.

    Lubo you lucky azz! :bang:

I lived in London for 5 years (2 of those in Chelsea)-- still remember seeing my first game at Stamford Bridge (vs. West Ham). Blues fan since 2001. Miss European football in general. Shame most Americans aren't into it. Still pissed off at John Terry. ](*,)

Italy has to be the most dreaded team to play in an international tournament. Clog up the back field to eliminate all passing lanes, rely heavily on a counter attack or set pieces, and if you need to, plead heavily with the ref like you are an absolute angel. As a viewer there's no other team that frustrates me like Italy and I cannot imagine being an opposing player.

Italian fans, don't hate, what they do is usually effective and extraordinary, it's just so painful to watch when I'm cheering for someone else.

The constant crying and pleading with the ref really gets to me. They got away with some fouls in the box yesterday. The ref wasn't very consistent.
