A few months ago they opened a store in my neighborhood that sells stuff like D&D, Warhammer, etc. I noticed the Magic stuff and bought a $14 intro-pack and taught myself and my 10-year-old how to play.....

My wife was a little apprehensive at first because of the "magic" connotations (spells, sorceries, etc.) but after she heard my kid cracking up uncontrollably when he whipped out and spanked me with his 8/8 Annihilator 2 creature she had a change of heart.

We now play about 2-3 times a week and we have a lot of fun........anyone else here play??

I've never played the Pokemon trading card game, but apparently Magic is very similar. You each start with 20 life points, you play off a 60-card deck, the deck has spells, creatures, etc. The object is to reduce your opponent to 0 life points.

Sometimes the game lasts 5 minutes, sometimes you can play for an hour until someone dies.

Its meant for kids/adults 13 years +, but my 10-year old does fine with it..........

I have some friend who still play D&D or variants of it. Since I took up riding I havn't had the time to go play. Especially during race season when I am sturggling to get training hours and life/work. I want to, but no time...

    Almost right, except......

Can't speak for all the other grown men, but I am a father and I only play Magic with my 10-year old. I would rather he interact with me tossing a baseball, biking, or playing a card game instead of him locking himself in his room and playing Nintendo all afternoon.

Since you are injured and can't ride Aaron you should come over to my home and let Christian teach you how to play.....its a great time killer....:)

If you don't get addicted I will buy you a case of beer.

As in better than sitting on my butt recovering? I bet you're right - interacting and company would be addicting :p

    Most definitely!
