    Wow!

I was patrolling in Aliso Woods late this afternoon, when I heard about the crash. That's three people I know that have had accidents on that hump. We either have to modify it or post some warnings as this probably won't be its last victim.

Healing vibs from the tribe for the fallen Angel.

Heal up soon Cindy! I've been over that hump dozens of times and learned the hard way to watch your speed. Never had to be airlifted out though!

And I agree with KWH, the less attention this area gets the better. It's this close to turning into another Chiquita Ridge lockdown.

The hump was put in to keep vehicles from going up the road any further (probably by the land owner). Removing it would probably (as John mentioned) bring unwanted attention to the trail.

I think this area should be left alone, at least for now. I wouldn't want the area closed over something that is completely rideable. Just use caution when going over the hump. It's a good learning opportunity about speed - not too fast, not too slow.

Sorry for your injuries Cindy. Hope you heal fast without to much pain.

One thing good can come of this. Someone in an earlier post typed "tuck & roll, tuck & roll". This works, if you think of it you can do it. It might have something to do with my gymnastics in highschool but I believe if you imagine it, you can probably do it.
A year or so back I was riding SJT and I was on a solo ride. I was riding my 1X1 Surly singlespeed. I was having a great day and on one particular downhill section I really let it fly. I was going faster then I think I'd ever gone on a mountain bike trail. All of a sudden I hit a stump that was on the side of the singletrack and I literally went flying. Even though I flew a good distance it happened really fast but my mind was moving quicker and I thought of "tuck & roll" and that's exactly what I did. I landed on my back in the bushes and walked away with hardly a scratch. So what I'm saying is, to think ahead about what you would do if you going to crash. The tuck & roll thing is something to try to keep in your mind, even if it's subconcious it will help. There's alot of folks who go down on a regular basis (right crash?) and these guys walk away more times then not with minor scapes or nothing at all. You can even practice crashing and think of what would be the best possible way to land with the least amount of damage. This does work.

Hopefully your get better fast and are not afraid to ride again.

I agree with the tuck and roll it has saved me a few times. There have been some that were to fast to even do anything too. I wonder as odd as it may seem but maybe have a how to crash course during newbie rides.

Heal up quick! Glad everything is ok.

Now someone post pictures of this offending bump. Do you have to do something as drastic as removing a technical feature because people get hurt on it? I've had lots of buddies wreck and get hurt at Noble, Anderson TT, but no one has ever suggested removing features because of that. Just confused here.

I'm going to send Cindy some flowers tomorrow to cheer her up (she's pretty down, I hear), so if you are interested in donating a couple of bucks, send it Paypal to [email protected] and I'll add you to the list of well-wishers from STR. I'm also going to print up the comments from the board for her.

It's not that bad.. Trust me, if I can ride it, it's not a big deal.
