I saw this on the news last night and it looks to me like this guy is full of it, and it also looked like he may also be full of Night Train. He said he was hiking and went to pet the 'kittys' and the mountain lion attacked him? A mother mountain lion defending her cubs would have ripped that guy a few holes and he would not have walked away with a scratch on his wrist.

"Why did you go pet the lion cubs?"

Officials: Man Might Be 'Lion' About Cat Attack

PORTOLA HILLS (AP) ― Authorities are questioning a homeless man's claim that he had an encounter with a mountain lion in an Orange County park.

Kevin Lassiter, 47, told authorities he spotted a mother cougar and her cubs while walking Wednesday morning through Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park in Portola Hills.

He said the mother cougar swiped at him with her paw, scratching him, when he tried to pet one of the cubs.

But a wildlife specialist with the Department of Fish and Game says Lassiter's wound is not consistent with an injury from a mountain lion attack.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino says if Lassiter is found to have filed a false report, sheriff's officials will look to prosecute him.

There was no lion. He fell on his hobo knife.

He would have been food for the cubs if the lioness actually caught him.

Not only that, I would have probably ridden by the drunk if I had woken up in time. Yesterday was one of the only mornings I haven't ridden Whiting this week.

    This update From O.C. Parks.

Well kids, did not see any cats last night. I think we might have a lead on the B.O., broken glass, and generally foul urine smell coming from the "bum tunnel" though....

At approximately 9 a.m. August 6, OC Parks officials temporarily closed Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, following an unconfirmed report of a mountain lion attack.

Based on an investigation by the California Department of Fish and Game and the recommendation of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, OC Parks decided at approximately 6 p.m. August 6 to reopen Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. Public safety officials found no substantiated threat to public safety. Park staff, Fish and Game wardens and Sheriff’s personnel found no evidence of a mountain lion presence at the site of the alleged attack or in the immediate vicinity. As always, OC Parks urges the public to use caution and remain aware of their surroundings when entering wilderness areas.

The guy is a jack's behind for the story, but I also have to question the reporters of this story. Why did they give so much time to the interview and just about no time to investigating? Why didn't they look at the wounds and question the guy a bit more? I totally understand the DFG and all, they MUST follow up, for the safety of everyone, but investigative reporters are supposed to INVESTIGATE--ask more questions and such!

Then again, as long as their supporting our parks with their parking fees... ;)
