Another Mountain Lion Attack??

They just had a statement on the radio from the Rangers that they couldn't find a single Mtn Lion track in the entire park.

One of the Fish & Game guys said that the entire account didn't sound at all like Mtn Lion behavior and it was unlikely he would have gotten away with just a scratch.

I hope they bust him for filing a false report.

 

Yeah but we knew it was a crock to begin with.

FOOTHILL RANCH – A man told authorities he walked away with only a scratch after trying to pet a mountain lion cub in Whiting Ranch today, but the wound on his right arm was likely not made by a mountain lion, officials said.
The man, identified as Kevin Lassiter, a 47-year-old man from Foothill Ranch, told authorities he spotted three mountain lion cubs at about 8:30 a.m. as he was walking through the park. Assuming that the cubs would not be dangerous because of their small size, he told deputies he walked toward them and tried to pet one of them, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
“He said he thought they were cute,” Amormino said

Saw the hiker's mug on the news and from the way he looks, I don't trust his story.

 

I wonder if he ever tried to pet a baby rattlesnake

WOWWWWWWW! I just saw the newscast on channel 7 where they interviewed the "victim". It's one of the first stories listed on the website. From the way he was talking, I wonder if he's still seeing the "kitties" or maybe pink elephants right now. See kids......just say no to drugs!

Limestone/Whiting Reopens

At approximately 9 a.m. August 6, OC Parks officials temporarily closed Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, following an unconfirmed report of a mountain lion attack.

Based on an investigation by the California Department of Fish and Game and the recommendation of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, OC Parks decided at approximately 6 p.m. August 6 to reopen Limestone Canyon and Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. Public safety officials found no substantiated threat to public safety. Park staff, Fish and Game wardens and Sheriff’s personnel found no evidence of a mountain lion presence at the site of the alleged attack or in the immediate vicinity. As always, OC Parks urges the public to use caution and remain aware of their surroundings when entering wilderness areas.

lets hope they will a least consider relocating the cougar.

 

I hope this guy gets punished.............. What a waste of tax dollars. All those sherrifs and dfg wardens and helicopters. Helis are like 2k an hour to operate. Whether he did it or not his stupid and wasted a bunch of time and $$ and jeopordized a mtn lion's life.

 

Can somebody go down to Whiting and find Jessie, He heard there was a cougar there, and nobody has seem him since. He must be still sitting in the bushes somewhere reaking of aqua dijor

Saw the news last night.
This guy ahs been hanging out at the Whiting entrance for a few weeks.
He asked me for some money last week, saying he was homeless.
Then went back and proceeded to have a big loud argument with some woman.
She probably did it, so ya, it was a Cougar, just not the type they thought.

I heard the whole thing is a hoax but who can beleive the news these days.
All I have to say is, you have to have zero common sense to pet a cub. What an idiot, STUPID HURTS!!
That will suck if they hunt her down for protecting her young.
