I just heard about another mt. lion attack out by Santiago Canyon, around the Whiting/Glenn Ranch entrance. A mother lion with 3 cubs. The person (hiker) was transported to the hospital with superficial scratches to the forearm.

    More info to come...

Whoa! First it was sand and now it's mountain lions!

Hope the hiker? is alright ... I stopped riding alone in the evenings after Mark & Ann's attack several years back. Also stopped Ranger Nancy from hiking alone... until I got a larger insurance policy on her.

Let's hope they don't run out and kill it. I feel for the victims but always go knowing I'm in their "home" and the risk is on my shoulders. My prayers they'll be ok...both of them.

Wow, bizarre is all I can say.

IDLEDALE, Colo. (AP).....A mountain lion crept through an open door into a house outside Denver, snatched a Labrador retriever from a bedroom where two people were sleeping and left the dog's dead body outside, wildlife managers said Tuesday.....

Sorry sister, that cat is as good as dead. Right or wrong, the rangers won't allow a man eating cat another opportunity to attack. Hopefully someone will make a nice rug or shaw out of it so it doesn't completely go to waste.

I don't think Solo is specifically planning on shooting the lion himself. He's just the messenger of the basic protocol in these situations. No need to shoot the messenger, even if you don't like the message.

This is very bad news. I'm curious to know what time of day this happened. People always talk about how rare these attacks are, but still it makes one nervous.

The lion he is talking about is usally seen in the early morning. It has two teenage cubs with it and has been in the public spotlight for about a year theres a really good picture of her and the two cubs drinking at night. There is also suposidly some stupid person feeding the lions daly at the gate to blackstar

Heard about it about an hour ago (9:22AM). It happened about 1.5 - 2 hours ago (around 8-9AM).

I have a friend who works for the County of Orange who's part of the emergency response team. Called me to let me know.

The story will be on channel 7 news at 11 am. They just gave a teaser. Solo I think I get your point you may not agree with the methods but is the usual action taken. One I strongly disagree with but what can I do ? I've been involved with wildlife rescue in the past. Let's hope the hiker will be ok.

PORTOLA HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A hiker was injured by a mountain lion after petting one of three cubs near Portola Hills in Orange County.
It happened when the hiker was out for a walk and came across three mountain lion cubs. Allegedly, even though the man knew the mother mountain lion was nearby, he pet one of the cubs. That's when the mountain lion lunged at the man and scratched him.
The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities are now looking for the mountain lion and the cubs.
