And we gave theirs back to them in 1945. We'll call it square.

So the French want to throw Landis in jail for hacking (supposedly) some files but want to keep a child sodomizing film director out? Gotta love the French.

ironically, with all it's pastoral charm, normandy has almost no trails to ride or hike. kinda like iowa.

edit: i spent 3 weeks in normandy/paris and southwest france- nothing but good times, great food, stunning art, and good people. i even had an eye injury and got treated for free. vive la difference!

FREE FLOYD NOW!!! (you've got to let him go)

The French people and the culture are really very nice.
It's a beautiful country and we have always been treated with respect and kindness.
Perhaps, like in every country, the larger bureaucracy's are the ones that give a country a bad name. :?:

Oh yea, that whole dynamic is really interesting. There are Canadians... and then there are the Quebecois, and ne'er the twain shall meet. I'm always surprised that the Canadians I know are the most easygoing folks, but mention Quebec and get ready for a tight-lipped brow-furrowing. Kinda interesting, considering the French voyageurs managed to integrate incredibly well elsewhere across the country (at least better than any other european immigrant group to north america)...

I'll only add that the actual French people I know think America is peachy, and don't reflect this "anti" sentiment we seem to hear about over here at all.

Of course there are no populations of people who aren't our brothers and sisters. It's governments that foster these ideas and feed them to us. We then transpose our feelings for other governments onto their respective populations. Most of us are intelligent enough to recognize that. But, that realization is just no fun. That's why we call what we do, "making fun."

What was this about? Oh yeah. Floyd is the white O.J. The French aren't going to stop until they get him, one way or the other. He is, of course, plan B. That Armstrong guy is just too crafty for them.

Mistress is right. I spent a summer in France racing motocross (way back when) and we met some nice people. We had perfect strangers invite us into their homes for a meal and to rest up between races. Don't judge by the bureaucrats because they're all idiots. The average Joes (I guess frogs ;-) in this case) are OK.

I have yet to live in, or visit, a country where 99% of the people weren't very nice - or the government liked.

God help the sport of bicycle racing if the computers of the infamous AFLD, the most "important" anti-doping agency in the world, who does the testing during the Tour de France, can be hacked by someone like Floyd Landis! Either their system security sucks or Floyd has a guaranteed executive job in Silicon Valley.

You would think that if their computers where so easily hacked, someone would have done so already in the multi-year battle the AFLD had with Lance.

Without taking a position on whether Floyd doped or not, this specific event, in my opinion is a witch hunt by the AFLD, probably in an attempt to buy back some credibility. Don't know all the details but hasn't the UCI taken them out of this year's TdF?

I would reverse every doping conviction made based upon the tests of this lab. If they are so weak that even Floyd Landis could hack into their system, every one of their previous findings should be questioned.

Or better yet, lets get Floyd to to hack in again in July and change every single "-" into a "+" on the EPO tests....

Just be careful before you generalize about a whole population. Plus, if by french voyageur, you think about the cajuns, I would like to remind you that they were deported out of Nova-Scotia and New Brunswick by the British. The goal was to assimilate them.

The Quebecois are direct descendant of the French explorers. They arrived starting in 1534. My first ancestor arrived in Quebec in 1564. They managed to keep their language, religion and culture. Most "Canadians" outside Quebec are European immigrants that had to assimilate to the English culture, that might explain their resentment toward the Quebecois resolve. Quebecois are not immigrants, they do not have to integrate.

Today, 8 million Americans are 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants for Quebec.
