It's a general problem related to all groups seeking access in the sense that there is a growing sense of entitlement to everyting. For example, I hiked Cowles Peak yesterday you can easily get in to a confrontation between hikers with respect to uphill/downhill right of way or WTF were you thinking by bringing that Horse of a dog with you on a trail that is so narrow and has so much use...Equestrians have money and clut and there are lot more hikers than bikers so MTB riders need to do a little simple math here. If we continue to use illegal trails or ride irresponsibly on multi-use trails then we have no one to blame but ourselves if get banned. There are MTB specific locations and events for those who are not satisified by their current trail riding expereince. the latter cost money and travel time but it internalizes the costs of the activity and that's a good thing for the sport and trail access in the long-run.
