    Looks fun.

Just because someone runs out of talent on a feature doesnt mean the trail needs to be santitized.

    Ride within your limits.

For every rider who is injured on the bump, 1,147.3 riders had fun on it. Stats dont lie... :)

This is the whole reason why I left STR because of the superfical debates versus leaving it at home and just riding. I broke my hip on this very same bump but you don't see me going out there and hacking it apart. I keep riding it....so should you.

I remember my first time on the ridge. Nobody had warned me, but I go slow on new trails anyways. Still, I came up on it, and even though, it is a pretty high hump, it is almost not visible until you get right up to it. I landed on my front wheel and did a nose wheelie for a little bit, dragging one foot. I can't believe I caught myself like that. It could have ended worse, especially after reading all the stories. I agree, though. They may close that trail down if more serious injuries occur. So, ride carefully out there until you are familiar where that hump is. I love that trail.

Everyone has their opinion and some people like to voice theirs more than others. STR is what you make it. If everyone ran from controversy, the halls of STR would be empty.....Just sayin'

Some of us sit in front of a computer way too much (some call it employment) and don't have any human interaction all day except via the keyboard (me included). It's a lonely place here......

We can not start ripping out the "evil features" of our trails .
There are plenty of trails that take a high toll on us riders. It is always the riders fault not the trails.
To ride ball out on a trail you are not familiar with is begging for injuries and or broken bike parts.
My guess is once you are aware the hump is there it becomes a fun obstacle.
While riding twisty single track I came around a fast corner to see a 5 strand barb wire fence.
It was like hitting a cheese grater. That was 20 years ago. I learned a life long lesson that day.
Pre-ride trails before you rip them and even that does not rule out surprises.
Have fun but be aware there are harsh penalties for riding outside ones limits .

+1. To ride full speed over a lip whose other side in unknown sounds really painful. By the way, the are talking about a "cycl-egg"? Most male riders I know have two :) (j/k)

Sorry to bring back the dead, but today I saw some kids modifying the hump for their jumping pleasure. I did mention to them that people are regularly airlifted from that very spot. However, being about 12, they are, of course, invincible. So for those of you who like to huck the hump, there may be a a new line to the right (going north) that might provide a less harrowing experience. I'll keep rolling over it nice and easy.

Maybe a sign that reads the following would be good.

"You should ride consider riding a road bike if you are afraid of the bumps and rocks"

Ill do it. I will post the video here once I can ride again (Getting over a knee injury)

And also, I used to volunteer down at fire station 58. During the prime riding months we would get roughly an incident every 2 weeks from that hump. Sometimes more frequently, sometimes less. Every few incidents we would get a serious one (requiring remote rescue by helicopter) The others usually showed up at our front door bruised, bloody, and broken.

I also remember keeping some of the riders bikes at the station. At one point we stockpiled 4..

As for a solution, I believe all we need to do is spread more rider awareness on EVERY trail.

When we ride fast on the downhill using an xc or dh bike we are the masters of our destiny. Know your limits, know and trust your bike and know the trail and all of it's obstacles. Sucks to hear of this.

The trail looks cool to me, I'll go out there in vengance...
