It's not just Nationally it's all over the world...it only shows riders with in a 50 mile radius of the city you set it on...you can change that so you see everyone in the Nation....check out how many member it has....

Just a little update: Strava is being used for the stages on the Tour of California.

    http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/Route/stages/stage1.html

So you could conceivably do a virtual ITT of the course competing against the pros.

I also added a month to the Endurance Challenge so it now runs through the end of June for anyone who still wants in.

    Love Strava!

Just signed up recently and I LOVE it. I am using the i-phone. It only messed up once for some reason most likely because my phone was in my pocket. Since then I put it in my camelback and it has worked fine.
It never works on my wifes old iphone and I can't figure that out, it always deletes her ride and doesn't sync. Maybe it doesn't like the old iphones. Either way, I love trying to beat others times and learn about new trails. I hope to see more challenges in the future to keep me motivated.

I figured out how to upload my rides, but I can't figure out how to download a ride??? For example if I search for a ride and find one I want to try. Can I download that into my Garmin 305 Edge?

    Thanks,

Aha! That's a bummer and why I couldn't find out how to do it! The other sites makes it so easy to download rides. Thanks for the info and hopefully they'll get that upgrade soon!

Strava really isn't designed for trail downloads - it is my one issue with Strava - it is not designed like Geoladders, which is designed around the trail, and you post your time to the trail. Rather, Strava is designed to measure individual performance. It isn't therefore trail focused, but individual ride focused.

That said, I love Strava. Using Strava, you will find yourself pushing harder to get the little PR cup award on your ride for the segments on the ride. You will start watching your power increase and times drop as it tracks you performance on key sections of each trail. With the stage races, KOM's, and climbing competitions, you will find yourself pouring over your stats when you are at work.

I use Geoladders, but I subscribe to Strava. If you contact them or one of the reps, they might be able to hook you up with free three months, or check out the Over the Hump website, there was an offer for three free months via that race series.

I don't know about that. If I read it right, you are leading on San Juan and top 5 on BS/MW.

I'm not part of the challenge (no GPS) but I'm just curious, are the times ELAPSED or ROLLING time?

I signed up for Strava a couple days ago.
have the free version, and will see how it goes!
quick and easy download straight from the Android phone!

Maybe I can get out of page 4/5 and get to a faster time! Like that will happen, I like to stop and "smell the roses"!

To anybody who joins, even to try it out, please go to the events and join the 2011 Studio Velo KOM Challenge and join up under SoCalTrailRiders. So far, we are pretty firmly entrenched in the top-10, but it would be nice to really represent the southern California mountain biking community.

Apparently, the Garmin 305 only holds onto the specifics of 9 rides at a time. I had no clue. Some of my stuff was saved in Garmin Connect, and I was able to transfer, but it sucks that everything in March, 1st half of April, and all of 2009-Dec 2010 is gone. I may have to get better at uploading rides..... (or just upgrade to a better Garmin)

Yes the 305 holds a limited number of GPS track points. When memory is about to overflow the old tracks are deleted. The 305 keeps a summary of each ride for months (distances and times) but Strava and other sites require the GPS tracks.

Think of uploading as backup. What would you do if you lost your Garmin? It happens.

LOL. This reminds me the time when my sister weighed herself a lot on a broken scale before her husband bought her a new one.

I learned from this thread about Strava for the first time tonight. Always wanted to use geoladders, but I just did not want to shell out $$$ to buy a Garmin. Strava looks really good.
