    We are looking at places up in Alhambra. I'm wondering about the following;

-High schools (they seem to be well rated, but which are the better ones and are their any charter options?)
-Neighbourhoods, any to stay away from? We have been looking pretty close to what appears to be the main drag.
-Where would I find my closest trails and are there any car-free paved paths like mtns to sea, back bay, sart?
    -Anything else fun or interesting?

    Thanks in advance-t.

I have lived in Alhambra since 2002. Doesn't fell like living downtown uess the ghetto bird starts circling. .ha ha. Dont know about the schools, dont have kids. Best neighborhoods are north of Main.
Closest trails are Brown Mtn El P and LSM and Sunset.
PM me for more specific info

I guess it is kind of like an str yelp. I like that no one has anything negative to say so far. I am worried about the heat compared to CM though. I notice that it's usually around ten degrees cooler down here.

Okay, we found a place two block from main street. It's actually walking distance to 38 degrees so we will be checking that place out. It seems like a nice hood, I left my bike on the car while we did a walk through and signed the paper work. I'm not excited about the new commute to fully (for work, not for the loop.) But, I am excited to spend more time in a new city and close to some gabes trails. Now, do I have any neighbours who'd like to show me around the gabes? I am only familiar with chantry.

Chantry is a good place to start. Get ready to get you climbing shoes on and check out the following sites. There are weekday rides, weekend rrides, and trailwork info.
    OTBMBC.com
    PMBC.com
    IMTBTrails.com
    CORBA.com
    There are probably others too.
If you are living over by 38°, then I am only a couple of blocks away.
A good intro ride would be Sunset/El Prieto run.

Being born in Alhambra, went to Lilly's Garden Preschool, Northrup Elementary, Alhambra High, and lived with my parents the whole time till I was 30, I think I can provide some input. HAHA

-Look for Tract homes as they tend to be in the premier neighborhoods. If you can swing it, North Alhambra would be the place to be. The closer to San Marino (Huntington Blvd), the better.
-Schools are about equal with a good mix of culture but is now pretty crowded. There are a couple of Private schools around, just in case.
-Downtown Alhambra (Main Street from Atlantic to Garfield) is pretty happening on the weekends. Valley Blvd for all sorts of chinese food.
-El Prieto in the San Gab Mtns are pretty technical! Good Ride. Turnbull is less than 30 mins away. San Gabriel River trail along the 605 takes you to Seal Beach.

I had to give up OTB and the San Gabs when I moved down to OC. I've been missing the riding and camaraderie since. Hans, Kanga and Otto will give you a proper initiation to the club.
