Well after thinking about it way too long...and parking lot testing Karl's bike I dropped my Reba off at The Path for the coil converstion.

The fork feels fantastic and you can adjust the travel from 110mm to 90mm:bang:

Saw another bike in there getting the same treatment:)

picking it up on Monday and will post a review:)

Which spring did you have them put in? I had the Pike spring in mine and I couldn't reduce the travel less than about 100mm. The fork worked well, but since I couldn't reduce the travel to 80mm easily I switched it back to air and 80mm, since that worked best for me for cross country, techy riding.

Good luck with yours. If I hear more about the revelation spring being able to go from 80-100 I might give it a try.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's so great about the coil conversion? Does it just add more travel? Is it more plush?

    Pike

Going with the Pike. The Revelation spring would be too light for my weight.

That is strange that your travel only moved 10mm:?:

Do the conversion and get a though-bolt:bang:

    Extra 10mm of travel
    Adjustable travel
    Much more Plush:)

Do the Hope Pro II's have a through bolt option for the front? I know they do for the rear...

    Yes and no

All you need to do is go to Pep Boys and get a 9mm drill bit. :bang:

Do it Foo! So I can buy your Reba when you decide you want a Fox instead.

    Cheap

The spring is $35 and labor $25. Not needed but I also purchased the adjuster knob for $20:)

The coil Reba feels way better than the Fox. However the Fox will be lighter:)

    Fox

Fox air feels like a really nice air fork

A coil.........feels like a coil and it feels better:)

agreed, in this case I think I'd prefer stiffness to plushness however. to each his own

exactly....a flexy air fork converted to a coil fork makes for a flexy coil version...in other words, ghey

the reba has a wimpy crown/stanchion/steerer tube assembly...a 9mm thru axle thingie up front will help but will not address what is likely the biggest weakness compared to a Fox (data on file)

Besides, getting a 9mm axle with the Reba can also be done on the Fox and it is a good idea regardless fo QR fork run

I've been thinking about this conversion for a while now. Sounds like you're onto something, good to hear about the positive results. I would have done it by now except I keep blowing through motion control dampers, my second one started leaking last week, yuk.

    are you talking women here?

sorry i have been out of your life for so long :)

between work and vacation i now truly suck azz on the trail given the many many weeks off the bike

though i really do love the Fox to be honest. I dont need a 20mm thru axle and am also very happy with the 9mm DT skewer
