I had a great start on the day with 30 miles and 5000' at Cheeseboro, making our own versions of the B's with energy to spare. Not wanting to overdo it I got out the road bike for an easy ride. Bad choice. I was JRA and then woke up on the pavement with people cleaning me up. I eventually realized where I was but not why. I had collided with a truck (no memory of that). The sheriff, fire truck, and ambulance were on the scene. Off to the hospital for x-rays and MRI. The damage: (1) broken second metacarpal, 5 stitches, but thankfully did not sever the tendon. (2) 7 stitches on the chin. (3) broken helmet, broken C1 disc - 3 months of wearing a neck collar. I don't need the pinning apparatus. (4) cuts, scrapes, bruises, swollen knee, etc. Unless there's a miracle healing of the disc* I'll miss the VQ and Fargo Street. The neurusurgeon said eat at least 2200 calories a day, that's easy. *(not thinkng about the hand, duh) Pictures? working on it. I'll ride the trainer as soon as the knee is ready.
The word SUX echos here... Sorry to hear this but at least you are alive to tell the tale... to a complete recovery...
Scary stuff. Another reason I stay off the pavement. I'd rather do a 10' drop than ride around with the cars. Any idea if they hit you or just a freak accident? Healing vibes your way and let us know if you need anything.
Ouch! So sorry to hear about another bike vs auto accident. I wish you the best with your recovery. Be patient for your body to heal.
danngg sir!! that really sucks!! thanks much for enforcing oneof the main reasons why I never ride the freaking road!!!#-o really sorry about your accident!! here's to a quick recovery!!
Heal up quick sir. One silver lining is that it gives the rest of us a fighting chance on the points ladder!
WOW! Thats a real bummer man, Healing vibes bro. I know I messed up my neck 2 years ago they heal faster than you realize.
Doug - I'm sorry to hear that!!! Here's hoping for your miracle. Heal up and take it easy in the meantime.
Doug I am so sorry to hear this. You ride a lot and I bet it will be tough satying off the bike. Bummer Dean
Wow, very sorry to hear about your injuries. Road crashes where the rider has zero recall of what happened are always bad, often permanently. Glad it sounds as if you'll make a full recovery. R
