Doesn't the bike ride part start at some ungodly hour like 6 AM?

For folks looking to do some fun rides around LA, check out a midnightridazz ride sometime. Some are fast, but most are chill fun rides. Many are rolling parties! :drunk:

Of course not! I think it started at 5:50 am last year. And if you're lining up with the others, you may want to get there at least a half hour to an hour before. I think I leave my home in Orange County at about 3-3:30 am. But hey, I usually eat breakfast there, and get back in bed at home in plenty of time to watch the marathon on TV and see many of the places I just rode (now with the running and biking courses being different, I don't recognize as much of the course).

So ideally if you are interested in this ride, stopping by the expo the two days prior is a fun thing. Bike and running freebies, and you can do all of your register pickup there (get the t shirt).

Registration closes on the 25th this month...so here's the link to get involved :)

If you're game...I'll post a meeting spot closer to the day of the ride :)

Here are a couple photos, including the front of the start last year; some I took and some a coworker took.

I'd doing it with my dad!!!

I built up my old 1991 Mongoose IBOC Comp for him this summer. He was diagnosed with diabetes and needed to loose weight. So far he has lost close to 40 pounds riding and working out at work in the mornings. He bought a Motobecane full carbon Ultegra equipped bike this week from Bikes Direct. I'm really looking forward to getting out there and riding with him.

A friend and I will be there, but we plan on poaching the ride. In fact, we might only make it out there for a few miles. We'll see, as our main goal is to be up in the area to cheer on a friend who is running the mary.

Good news. My travel plans have changed, so I will be out there on the Acura Bike Tour. I'll be starting off chasing the Acura chase vehicles until I get dropped. It's actually fun passing the lead police officers on motorcycles...they get so pissed.

I did this a few years ago, but since it's the day after the VQ, I'll pass once again. I've done the Long Beach bike tour 2 years in a row. I just don't see myself getting up that early after doing 56 miles on the VQ the day before and drive to LA, ride 26.2 miles, drive back home and then have to work that graves later that night. #-oBTW, I added a poll.

    I signed up today. :bang:

If you are looking for a good place to park I grab a free street spot near the intersection of Hoover and Jefferson, it's on the north side of the SC campus and just across from a Denny's. We can meet up there at 5am and pedal down to the start area.

I recall that Jefferson is blocked off on the Vermont side, just head north one block and head east on one of the back steets to Hoover then head south. There was lots of parking there right up to 5:45.

If you are coming up the 110 exit on Adams and turn left and head towards Hoover, then turn left, it'll end at Jefferson.

    See ya'll there!

I picked up my bib - #118 - and swag bag today. Parking is now $12 (wasn't it $10 last year?). And I get my Acura Bike Tour jersey this afternoon.

I think I'm going to ride my Specialized Tricross with road tires.

I'll be there. Rode it on a hard tail with slicks in 2005. Ran it in 2006 and quickly came to the conclusion that running sucks - at least for me. Might ride The Grinch this year with my 5 year old on the banana seat.

Unfortunately, I have to be at the ride area by 5:00, so I'll be leaving north OC by 4:15ish. After the ride and breakfast, I have to haul butt home to pick up my girlfriend and her friends to try and be at the Fullerton Loop by 8:00 am. It's going to be a long day...
