one day with some friends we went jumping on our big bikes and ther was some kids there so since I am a show off I tryed to go big and made it the first time but that one last time sure caught me in the ass. I took a hard hit and tore my ac joint with a grade 3 sepration which was fun I was out for 6 weeks but all is good now. Just makes my point more solid that, that one last time always kills yea

I lived with a 3rd degree AC seperation for 4 years. Not fun. The good news is the Dunn/Weaver operation works great if you ever have the need to fix it. Swimming is a great way to rehab that shoulder. Good Luck.

Blew mine out about 5 years ago. Grade 3. No real issues other than the large bump and the sloshing sound it makes when I ride my road bike. One day a buddy of mine was riding next to me and could hear the "slurp slurp slurp" it made every time I did a pedal rotation (it sounds like you pulling a boot outta the gooey mud) and he said, "Dude! Is that your SHOULDER makin' that noise? That's makin' me sick to my stomach..." I said, "Yea man, you oughta hear it from THIS end!!" He dropped back and wouldn't ride next to me any more...

Doctor told me it would develop arthritis over time and I should expect to have it operated on to cut off 1/2" of the collar bone at the joint and have the arthritis scraped out to fix it. Sounds lovely. :( Need to check into the Dunn/Weaver thingy. When I did mine, the Docs said that there wasn't a real good way to fix it reliably. My chiropractor told me that it is important to keep exercising that arm/joint because if you don't the scapula will start to turn downward because it isn't attached at the AC joint anymore. That will start to cut off blood flow and rub on nerves that go out to that arm. So if you start feeling numbness or tingling in that arm, better get on those pushups and pullups and seated rowing!!

Grade 3 AC separation 6 years ago, no real symptoms except for the bump.
