A Little "Cross" Dressing For Me....

So, I just got back from my first ride on the Litespeed, and holy crap, I don't think I've ever pedaled uphill that fast!

Lee, you were right on the seat being to far back. I checked it out this morning before leaving, and I'm surprised I didn't catch it when I put it on yesterday.

It was just a short spin around the hills here in Tustin, but it was enough to fill me in on a couple more little things to change.
I need to raise myself up just a bit, so I'm going to find a different stem, and I also need to scuff-clean up the rims just a bit. Karl let me in on that when he sold me the bike, and even offered to do it for me. I told him I'd take care of it, while he supervised.:lol:

I'm very happy with this bike as it goes, so I'm going to start getting in some good long road/dirt rides in.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to metion that Jake already has more rides on this bike than I do. So we went down to The Path yesterday evening and picked him out an "asphalt" bike, birthday present!

He picked this one out on his own, even over the Honky Tonk. He liked the way it felt, and it fit him great.
Karl even said that it would be easy to throw some drops on it if Jake ever descides to go that route.

I'm not so sure I'm going to get that into riding this bike.
Other than riding from my house, then hitting some fire roads, I'm still gonna ride my MTB's the most.

I promised Hoover that ride down the Luge, and I'm guessing that's about as much single track I'm gonna want to ride without a real mountain bike. :lol:

I need to get a few more rides in, but I do want to do that ride.:clap:

 

So, is tomorrow's ride the Path through Santiago Canyon, up STT, Whiting, then finish the loop round Irvine Blvd to the Path again???

Shoot, I didn't set up a ride for this morning because I started my new shift last night. I now get off at 6:30am, so I wouldn't be able to ride until 7:30.
If that's not to late for folks, I'll set one up for next Wednesday. Let me know! :clap:

 

I start my new shift next week--5 days/wk, like a real person
I'll be back to normal around April though; I can ride then. Until then, I should be off of work sometime between 1230 & 230pm.

 

Congrats, Darin. Pretty soon you'll be talking to us about heart rate zones and we will have to start calling you a mountain roadie instead of a mountain biker It's all good, hoping to pick myself up a CX bike in April.

 

Anyone want to meet up tomorrow morning? Meet at The Path Bike Shop around 7:45am, and do the Santiago Canyon-Irvine Blvd. loop. Just post up here if you want to ride. I'll check back when I wake up this afternoon.

 

I believe that I can make this one. Cross bikes? If we hit Whiting from the back (Santiago), we'd miss the mess on Borrego (sp?)

 

I'd be into that. I don't have the CX tires on it yet, but I'm guessing the 38's that are on it will hold up.
