    Cyclocross that is.........

    Litespeed Appalachian

Karl down at The Path was helping me out last week while I was in there looking at road/cyclocross bikes.
He knew I'd been doing my Wed. AM road rides, and knew I was leaning towards getting a bike.

He then made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and I picked this bad boy up Saturday morning before Andy & Pua's event.
I ALMOST rode the Fully Loop on it that morning, but opted to ride my hard tail instead. There was a bit of tweaking I wanted to do to it before my first ride on it, and I got that done today.

So, tomorrow AM I'm gonna take it out on a spin.

    Here's the build;

    Litespeed Ti Appalachian Cyclocross frame
    Winwood Carbon Cross fork
    IRD Cranks
    Crank Bros Candy pedals
    Ultegra shifters & front D
    XTR rear D
Hand built by Karl wheels not sure what rims they are, but the have a Paul front hub, and a DT Swiss Hugii 240 rear hub.
    Maxxis 700x38 Overdrive tires
    Tektro Canti brakes
Salsa Moto Ace Bell Lap bars
    WTB Silverado seat

The way it sits, with the seat bag, it weighs right around 22 pounds, which is freak'n scary light for me!

I'm pretty exited to ride it, even on the road. And Karl is going to bring me a set of cross tires for it. When he does, I promised Mark a ride thru Whitting, up STT, and down the Luge!
THAT laddies and gents is going to be SCARY!

    That's a pretty sweet ride.

I think it's time for a proper weekend group ride with the STR roadies :bang:

    Beautiful bike!

BTW, I don't remember you having unusually long femurs, so you may want to talk to Tani about getting fitted. The seat looks to be way too far back for you, from what I remember. Or it could be the photo that gives that impression.

Karl and I spent some time today working on the fit, since it was his bike, and not a shop bike. I bought the seat and put it on when I got home, so yeah, it may need some addjusting. I figured I'd ride it tomorrow, and see how it feels.

By the way, are femurs my arms or legs?:?::lol:

For the life of me, I can't see why this piece of art would weigh more then 18 pounds.

Excellent choice. You are now entering the world of speed!

Because I'm too scared to ride anything that light! #-o

Probably a change of tires, seat bag, and possibly the pedals, and I could probably lighten it up some.

    Are you riding yet?

Congrats on the CX. I've only had mine a few months now and recently rode mine at Whiting for the first time with Mark (Hoovermd) and while I'd considered that trail pretty tame on my mountain bikes, riding with skinny tires and drop bars was pretty sketchy. I still trying to get comfortable with the narrow grip and being hunched so far down on my bike. I'll have to join you two when do that "scary" ride down Luge although it'll likely be more of a HAB for me:?:

    Woo hoo!
We will definitely be scheduling a few rides as soon as I get back into town.

Some of my fave 'Cross friendly routes are:

Whiting via Mustard and Vulture's View.
Aliso via Cholla and TOW and Mathis.
Santiago Oaks via the Bitches and Chutes.

I'll have to teach you guys how to Portage those things so we can do the "Carry-a-Kona" ride someday.

    Darin,

Please don't do the scary ride down the Luge on a week day. I want to witness that and will be happy to take pictures. I even have some lycra shorts you can barrow. I'll even wash them first! ;)

    Fork and Tires.

18lbs pounds is actually pretty light for a double ring cross bike, scary light single ring straight up race bikes are still 16-17 lbs.
