I'm in for the 'slacking' - but only for 25 miles of it...

    25 or 50?

    Hi, what is sslacking?

also i ride 40~50ish miles with 5kish elevation per week (weekly 'total') speed is around 9.5 with ss rigid and 11 with fs geared.
not high climb but i can do 2100ft elevation 19miles distance at 9.5mph without getting exhausted, should i go for 25 or try 50... my longest single ride was around 23 miles.
i know this event is at your own pace but just got curious since I never tried any type of event or group riding...

9.5m-11ph average at your distance and elevation is fast in my book. you should be fine for suffering the 50

Do which ever you feel most comfortable doing. When I did it two years ago, I did it SS rigid and with my longest ride being 16 miles. I had a lot of fun and cleaned almost everything. You can definitely do the 25 miler, but if you want to push yourself, do the 50.

I'm planning to ride the 10 mile route with my wife a couple weeks before - so she can see that it's not as bad as she thinks. My brother and I will do the 50 miler while the wives do the 10 miler

    Rich - that's because you're a biking machine!

I'd suggest the 25-miler this time, and go for maximum enjoyment. The 50 isn't any harder IMO, but it's a longer day in the saddle, and that level of fatigue may just sap some of the fun. It's ultimately up to you tho.

I'm in for my first time. I'll see how the rib feels and see what the weather looks like before I decide 50 or 25.

I must be dead then. 25 miles in 5 hours. Granted I had to wait on Jack Lee to piss, strip, sit, etc.

I've always done the 25 but thinking of 50. If it gets too hot though I'm cutting it short.

Most memorable fun ride ever, years ago doing the SSlacking. I can still remember the pain from that ride.

I'm in. So, this was sort of last minute for me and I would like to pre-ride the Caspers potion of the route. Anyone have time- Tues after 12pm or anytime Wednesday? At this point, I am not concerned with pace, just a bit of exposure to the trail.

My pals and I are doing the 50 this year with the goal of coming in DFL. I've done it before (and almost made goal) but I can't remember how well stocked the aid stations are. Do they have everything like a roadie event? Or should I bring my own food?

In previous years, the aid stations had some food like oranges and bananas and bottled water. Last year, I heard some comments from the end of the pack of shortages of some items. I did not experience any, but I do carry some snacks and a couple of energy supplements, just in case.
