After reading many R&Rs and seeing many pics of Sedona from others here on STR, I finally had an opportunity to go and check it out myself. 7 of us rented a nice 4,000 Sq ft house in the Village Oak Creek for the week. Each of us had our on rooms, 2 couples each with huge rooms and their own bathrooms and each of us guys had our own rooms with separate baths as well. Pretty awesome accommodations if you ask me. Here's some pics

DAY 1- Will the Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up!

Now for the ride pics. On this day, we rode trails that included Slim Shady, Templeton, HT, Bell Rock, Pig Tail, Hog Wash, Little Horse, Tiny Llama & Bail Trail.

Here's a pano with John & Vickie on Templeton

Just some various pics of the trails we rode. I really can't tell you which trail these were, but rest assure, they were fun & very scenic. Pretty hard to stop and take pics on these, but I tried.

Day 1 was fun day of riding for sure. We ended up with just over 22 miles & 2,000 ft of elevation. Pretty stout ride for our 1st day with these Mesa miles, but we were all fine. Here's the GPS track on Strava for those interested: http://app.strava.com/activities/128353082. Keep in mind we rolled from the house to trailhead, but pretty much near the Bikes & Bean Bike Shop.

R&R to continue with pics from Flagstaff as we rode there on Day 2.

    Day 2 - Flagstaff

On Day 2 we decided to ride up in Flagstaff. The weather was much cooler than in Sedona as elevation was much higher..., this route starts at above 7,000 ft elevation.

We rode Schultze Pass Loop, The Moto Secret Trail. A good variety of trails..., good climbs, chunky, fast & flowy single tracks. Much different scenery as there were pines instead of the red rock you'd see in Sedona.

The Moto Trail was fun. Starts out mellow then you hit some real chunky obstacles. Lots of up and over rocks, drops, rolls. At this point I was too busy to stop and take pics as I was having too much fun going up & over some of rocks. I was told Super Moto was even chunkier. Here's Deb on a log/rock roll
    IMG_0575.jpg

John on a blind rock berm around a rock. The entire trail was like this. Weaving up, over, around rocks/boulders. Fun stuff indeed!
    IMG_0577.jpg

We ended up with about 12 miles and 1400 ft of climbing: http://app.strava.com/activities/128699544

Later had lunch and brews at Flagstaff Brewing

More to come later as we did a route recommended by Steppie on Day 3. Stay tuned

Awesome pix Gene! Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to riding there some day. Flagstaff AZ is the winner of the bell built west coast contest and from the looks of the photos it's a well deserved win.

    Sedona Days 3 - Steppie's route

Day 3 in Sedona continued with a route recommended by Steppie. Knowing his knowledge of the area and trails he loves, we wouldn't pass this up for nothing. Dean was right, today's route was super fun and scenic. This was certainly one of the prettiest and funnest routes yet. Thanks again for the info Steppie! Great ride for sure if you ever get a chance top go to Sedona.

As directed, we park at Mescal Trail where it crosses Long Canyon Rd. From there we rode trails such as Chuck Wagon, Gunslinger, Deadman's Pass, Boynton Pass, Aerie, Cockscomb, Dawa, AZ Cypress, Snake, Girdner.

I usually ride out ahead so I can take some pics. John aka KeepsWhatHappens & I usually switch off doing this throughout our rides. Here's Jeremy aka Fiend

We all took the Extreme as would probably most of you, but it really wasn't anything too extreme as you'll see in the next several pics. Maybe the entry and exit of the trail, but that's all.

Day 4- Rest day: Hiking Hiline Trail:

Basically it group decision and was a day off the bikes. Earlier this day, Erik, Dav and I went to driving range at Oak Creek Country Club and hit bucket of balls each. Later that afternoon, we 6 hiked Hiline to scope out the trail. We only hiked about half the trail and didn't the most difficult sections as we needed to get back and meet Jeremy who went out solo on a ride. The section we did hike looks like a blast and convinced at least me to ride it if I got an extra day or 2 of extended vacation.
    IMG_3547.jpg

The trail isn't too difficult in this direction and made for of nice easy hike.

    IMG_3551.jpg

The hike totaled about 3 1/2 miles. Just a nice day off the bike to rest the legs and sit bones.

Next up, the gangs days 5, 6 & my 7th and final day in Sedona.

Great photos and good fun. It's definitely hard to take that many pics while riding, as it messes up your flow and rhythm, so thanks.

Mission accomplished, you've added another trail to my bucket list. Hoping when my littlest is old enough to leave behind for a few days, the wife and I can start crossing some of these trails off our list. Thanks for the RR.

Gene glad you and the crew enjoyed my route, it has been refined after 8 years of different routes. I will be riding a form of that ride Thursday but I will be dropping off the Mescal shelf and exploring some new trails I heard about in the Canyon of Fools...the name has me excited to me find what is down there.

Ya we had this trip planned for about 6 months which why we were able to get the accommodations we had. Places get filled fast this time of year so we all had to commit pretty early on, but your R&R got me excited to go.

Ya we dropped into the Canyon of the Fools on Day 5 when we did Western Civ & Last Frontier. I'm working on getting that RR as well as Day 6 & 7 put together now. Not to mention my Prescott visit. Thanks again for all the info..., very much appreciated Dean.
