6 Hours of OC

Yeah, I thought I heard I can whip any of those guys up or down a hill. Let the race begin!

 

I plan to do it solo. Main reason is so I can get an early entry for Vision Quest. Anyone entering either of the last two Warrior Society races this fall (6 hr or XC) can get an early entry for VQ. Although they are increasing the number of spots by 50, it will fill very fast.

 

Yup....expect the VQ to sell out earlier again this year. Each year it sells out quicker and quicker.

Racing a "cheap bike"

Reading Ssheetz's Cheap bike report gave me the idea to "race" the 6 Hours of OC solo on a cheap bike. So I'm wondering if there are any folks out there that have a walmart/costco/target bicycle that I can borrow for 6 hours? It's gotta at least have gears. I don't want to be "racing" a beach cruiser.

 

come on just buy one they're only $80-100 plus you get to keep it at the end and no worries if you break it.

 

Heck buy one from Target and return it when your done!!! Tell them it wasnt what you were looking for in a bike!

Yes a unicycle is out; I'd have to run too much. I have seen a few $50-$100 bikes on craigslist so if I can't borrow one I may have to take all my coins to the local market and get a cash voucher. :bang:

 

You could just buy a target bike, "race" it, then return it, telling them it didn't suit your needs.

I signed up for solo yesterday. Main reason is to qualify for early registration for VQ. But it should be fun.

 

Who else is signing up? I know craig was talking about it yesterday. Maybe get some str teams going and setup another playaz club like at the 24hr race.

 

I was thinking of making this for fun. Maybe some 3 man STR teams?

I'm in. Any of the regular crew want to race with an old guy? Realistically, as long as we can maintain 50 minute laps, we could do 7. That would be pushing it but if it's not hot I think we could hang. We were turning 45-55 minute laps in the heat.

I don't think we'll be challenging the leaders but we should be able to have some fun.

Who else?

ps - If you sign up no quitting if it's hot, cold, or your mangina flares up.

hmm, this is sounding fun. might be cool to go out and have a good time, crank out a couple of hard laps and lounge at the players club; part deux...

 

I'm in solo, intermediate, 31-45 age group (old fart!). I just signed up today. Where's the STR sausage party at? In the grassy field?
