also I rode Tijeras on Sunday and that section is very noticeable and easy to navigate around it. Even if you have to get off your bike and walk around it, its not a problem.

Knowing you, I bet that translates to doing it on a rigid SS with 44/18 gearing.

Don't taze me as you blow by - I'm still on your old bike!

I'm coming from Ventura County and have never ridden in the area. Will there be food stops? Do we need backpack hydration or will bottles be enough? Thanks for any insight.

You get 3 chances to refuel etc. I always ride with a pack so I may be a bad example. I guess I would add, how far do you usually ride with your bottles? 2 hours? Most of us wear packs I would say, but we are also out to enjoy on this ride, for many of us this is a nice enjoyable pace.

Also depends on the weather, at the moment it looks pretty cool, but if it decides to get warm it can get warm fast.

Yes 50 miles is the plan. Love to have some company! Have no idea of how long I would take. Eight hours sounds about right, I think.:?:

Thanks Bvader. Sounds like a light pack might be the plan. I can go 2 plus hours on 2 bottles but your are correct and fun is plan number one.

I never registered the day of before, but I would get there as early as you can so you have plenty of time. This is not a race so I'm sure if you get a late start, you'll still be fine. Be sure you download a form here:

From someone who has never ridden the course, what's it like? I've seen it on geoladders but what's the feel?

    Thanks

Well it all relative. To me it's an easy 50, but that's due to the lack of extended climbs, technical sections...,etc. There's lots of rollers and short steep climbs, but nothing too long. Check the profile on GL and you can see that there is just over 5,000 ft of climbing. What's the longest mtb ride have you done? Here is a link to prepare yourself:

Parking tips would be helpful. What is the parking situation for those of us who have never been out to Cook's Corner?

I've signed up on ride day and it went pretty quick for me, but I was there early (6am). I parked in the adjacent dirt lot off of Live Oak and was directed by ride volunteers. Really well organized so parking was never an issue for me.

Thanks for the heads up. The distance is no issue. I was just curious more than anything since I've never been on the trails. Looking for to a great day of riding and meeting new riders. I'll be on a silver Turner Flux DW lefty.
