Ride whatever you got - trailbike, CX, hybrid, SS, fatty, rigid, uni, 20/24/26/27.5/29/36-er - just bring it and ride!

BTW - I heard from a friend who knows a guy that talked to a dude that works in a place that's located in a town that's involved with an event that's happening soon...that it's gonna be a big one this year - rumor is well over 1000 people. But you didn't hear it from me! Shshsh!:-$

Get there early, bring sunblock and some cash, and enjoy the after-ride party! :bang::beer:

I'm signed up too. This will be my first 50 mile ride in the dirt, so this a new experience for me.

The start should be real interesting..... that first gravel incline by the electric sub station then down through the first gate will be a log jam. Anybody know how many are doing the 50?

This is my first time doing this ride but don't know if to do the 25 or 50 . Does anyone know the pace of the ride ? Is it a group ride or an individual ride? If anyone with experience on this ride can provide more details that would be great.

    Thank you

You haven't given enough info on your conditioning for anyone to give advise. You can take the allotted time divided the chosen mileage and get an average MPH that you would need to finish by 2:30....how fast is your average pace for the distance and elevation?

There will be a herd of Goats there!

This has always been my favorite event of the year. I think the Rwanda'n cause is great, ...but in all honesty, I just love the fact that this is the one southern Californian event that unites riders from all of the SoCal counties to just do what we love, for the reason we love it.

    Oh, ...and there's beer. :).

..see you guys out there, ...Can't Wait!!!!!

    Fixed it for ya. ;)

@Monkeyboy - This is a fun ride (not a race) to be done at whatever pace you want. With so many riders there will be others riding at your pace. In other words, we all don't wait for each other to catch up, like in a "no-drop" ride. But you could informally use the aid stations to regroup with riding buddies if you want. Also, there are "cutoff" times in order to get people back to the start at a reasonable time, but those cutoff times are pretty generous.

Check the web site for more info: http://50mr.com/

X2 on the "at your own pace" This will be my first 50. Although my fellow goats will be there with me, I really don't expect them to wait for me. They will be mashing the climbs on their single speeds and I will just be cruising at a mellow pace in my grannt gear, as I just hope to finish. Who knows, maybe I will catch up on the flats and downhills? at any rate, it's not a race, but you just want to cruise at a pace you know you hang until the finish. people loiter around at the aid stations and chit-chat, its a very friendly atmosphere.

Carl, we can watch everyone leave us in the dust together. all my pals are doing the 25 and I'm doing the 50 so I'm pretty much solo.

My goal is to push myself and have fun being miserable.

Not sure so you'll have to look around for the crew as many have not chimed in this thread whether they'll be another SSlacker ride or not. Last year I rode SS but not with the SSlackers. I'm not riding it this year cause I'll be volunteering and helping out with the raffles. Have fun and see you there!

Just picked up my packet this morning. Look for #217 my friends!

Remember to put on sun block for the ride. It's gonna be a hot one for sure.

See you all bright and early tomorrow at Oakley!

I know. Where is that beautiful overcast weather from a couple of days ago?!?!? Also, I highly recommend re-applying the sunblock at least one mid ride.
