The 3rd annual 50 Mile Ride for Project Rwanda has a new date: Saturday March 21, 2009

Why not the traditional December date you ask?

We have a few reasons to try a new date this time:
    1. Rainfall in December, and the related park closures, make route planning a real challenge. Not to mention, a big bummer if it rains on the actual ride date.
    2. Many of our corporate sponsors run out of budget money for contributions by the end of a calendar year. We stand a better chance of reaching our fundraising goals with an earlier ride date.
    3. It's just too darn cold at 6:30am on a December morning to be standing in line waiting for the ride to start.
    4. This ain't about a December birthday ride any longer - it's bigger than that - so we don't have to be tied to a December date.

When selecting this new date we tried to be sensitive to MTB events or holidays that were already on the calendar. Our April 4 date is sandwiched nicely between the Warrior's Society Vision Quest, the Share Poker Ride, the Sea Otter Classic, and the Easter holiday.

Our 50MR planning team is looking forward to bringing you another world-class MTB event. Hope you can join us again this year! Please help us spread the word!

Done it before, and i'm sure i'll be doing it again. This is always a good time...and for a good cause too.

Bummer they moved the date - I liked the December date as a benchmark to see how my vq training was coming along. Not being in the cold will be nice though - last year's start wasn't too cold, but the year before it was something like 28 degrees!

This will be my third 50m Project Rwanda ride and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Ah, April would be much better. Cold and dreary for the most part (but good company) last year. I'm leaving the cruiser at home this time.

I definitely want to do this again. No spraining of ankles this time, however. And I think I'll do the 50 instead of the 25.

I'm leaving my SSpeed at home this time too. Mike, maybe we'll finish before the raffle is over.

I'll kinda miss the cold weather though.

Good cause, good times last year.

I'm in. Singlespeed again. Klutter hope you can pull me in again?

I think ShinKen has been too busy play live action Call of Duty on the paintball course.

I'm in...gotta go 3 for 3 on the rwanda rides. Besides, after vq, a 50 mile slacker ride's gonna be a nice change!

And if that guy that bought 500 tickets last year for the raffle tries to pull that again, he's gonna get cut...

I'm out of shape, so I won't be pulling anyone. ;)

I'm in and let it be said again that no one can top the fun the slacker crew had!;)

50 miles of trash talking and impromptu hill climb contests, iron maiden blaring from spring rubber's mobile music system, being so far back that the aid stations were gone....its all good times:bang:

I want to be part of team slacker. Oh wait, I think I might already be a member.:?:

But, since my wife is due to give birth to our first child right about then I don't think I'll be able to make it.

I'm sure that Neil and crew will put on a good showing and hopefully will entertain me with stories at a later date.
