Yeah I don't know how Abui does it, but I cannot/will not take individual pictures.

Sorry, I could only fit 1 bag in my backpack, mostly spray paint crap.

What's that Liz...you left Binh's tampon on the ground. That's pitiful.

Simon and I on the otherhand, took this challenge seriously. We thought we'd hit two separate spots for some trash removal up on the mountain. But first we had to wait until our favorite show "Charles in Charge" was over...

    Simon kept changing the channel
    Southridge 001.jpg
Scored an old TV, trashcan, endless chunks of arm-amputating glass
    Southridge 002.jpg
    Deposited in the E-Trash area
    Southridge 003.jpg
Simon recons his favorite "Busch" beer
    Southridge 004.jpg
I scored some Gu and a ribbon for Liz

This guy we left on the trail

This guy we also left on the trail
    (very dangerous freerider)

4pm ride scheduled for this evening...anyone want to join send me a PM.

I rode at Crafton Hills this morning. For those familiar with it I went up the Grape Ave. trail to Zanja Peak, and then down the singletrack on the back that comes out just west of the park. A map - http://craftonconservancy.homestead.com/TRAILMAP.html

As I was riding down I rode past some trash and my first thought after I passed was "awww that sucks, someone left some trash"

Then I got a little further and thought "hey, there's that STR trash contest, I could go pick it up and enter"

Then I thought, "It was just a piece of paper, I could never win with that"

And then just a little further down the trail I realized, "that's not really the point of the contest, I should go pick that up, but I'm already 50 yds past, that can't be worth it, but of course it's worth it, it's the right thing to do, but now I'm even further down the trail...."

So after this discussion in my head I turn and ride back to pick up a piece of paper that I think was a map of the trail.

Then just another half mile or so I see a water bottle, and without hesitation this time I stop to pick it up and continue on and finish my ride.

    DSC00234.JPG DSC00236.JPG

I don't think I've even picked up trash on the trail before (except for balloons which I've probably picked up half a dozen of). So thanks to this contest for giving me the shove to do it. Maybe I'll get bonus points for actually turning back and riding back up to pick up a piece of paper.

After cleaning up after what appeared to be a recent "Shoot Your Trash Day" event, Craig (Laggdawg) and I also rounded up a bit more stuff from around the local trails. It was the usual selection of cans, cigarette packets, etc. This was mainly collected on the Southrdge fire road and gave me a good excuse for stopping:

That be what going on up there on the main divide mostly up at the Golf Ball. I am impressed it actually involved a condom and the bottle was not broken...how responsible...

Other part of story, got up to Beeks Saturday morning was feeling awful (long story) but figured it was Saturday .i.e. morning after Friday night so there would be plenty of beer cans etc..couldn't find many...turned around there was a dude that hiked up there to collect bottles and and beer cans ... he had a full bag...guess he knew where to look/collect too.

If we'd known I think Gooseaholic would have picked up the pink unmentionables he saw on Irvine Blvd while on a road ride. Choose to leave it for hazmat :)

We picked up a red Mylar balloon today. I can't post a pic as I'm on my iPhone. Will try to post it when I get home.

Turn to look at the scenery and saw something on the volcanic rocks. What could it be? A potato chip bag?

    IMG_3764 (Small).JPG

No. The ultimate prize - a mylar balloon.

Did the prevailing winds carry it over the Sierras?

Happy Birthday from how long ago?

On the same spot the balloon turned up, the pumice revealed another treasure.

A lift operator permit from 1994! (The inked date also says 1994)

Later with the grandson at the kid's park.

Someone had a few drinks the night before.
    One whole bottle.

    IMG_3798 (Small).JPG

    One smashed bottle

    IMG_3800 (Small).JPG

I picked up glass shards over a 100 sq.ft. area to make it safe for bare feet.
