Okay I'm going to start a new thread to get the ball rolling on this.

I'm looking for 4 members to join me for this race. Like I said in the previous thread, I'm really not looking to get on the podium (but it would be nice). I am however looking for members that are competive and willing to train. I would like to get a group that would be up for training together at least one day a week(weekend?). This is only 5 weeks away, so we really need to get a team together quick.

There is a race comming up, Idywilld Spring Classic May 13, which would be a good way to gauge everyones condition. I'm going to sign-up for this event also.
    http://www.idyllwildcycling.com/spring_challenge.htm

This would be a great way to get our STR name out there!

Hey Steve- I was looking at doing that race for training. I'm in as long as you don't mind having a 'chick' on your team... I won't be able to do the Idywild Spring Classic though b/c I'm racing the 24hrs of Adrenaline in Montery.

I am in. I don't think we have met but I just did the Cytomax last weekend. My laps were '40 and '43. I can't do the race on the 13th and I am on my spare bike for two weeks, but I am willing to meet up on the weekend or a weekday afternoon to ride/train. I really want to do this race. Let me know.

Okay I got my first confirmed rider. Shannon we could use your expertise since you do these races all the time.

Klowie, welcome to the team. I'm looking forward to getting out there with you and working those hills.

Looks like I'm going to have to do some convincing on tomorrow's Joplin ride:)

For anyone else, I need two more competitive riders. Kippie your spot is waiting for you.

Not sure of my schedule that weekend, but I may be able to participate. I'll check and see. If nothing else, I'll see if I can be there for part of the race for support.

Here's how team's are shaping up so far. Skippy apparently is out of town on the second day and can't make the kick-ass team but will be there saturday for support.

    Steve's kick-ass team (no longer a team)
    1. steve
    2. klowie
    3. hbrunner
    4. ride 2 live (maybe)
    2nd STR team:
    1. Rob
    2. Dell
    3. Bret
    4. Craig (maybe)
    5. Me
Perhaps enough people to get a 3rd STR team going? Who's gonna be there for support? [-o-]

I think Steve is going solo. I still want to do this race. I will be on a team that is pushing to be competitive or one that is doing it just for fun.

We are going out today to scout a few areas that we would like to change. Otherwise, due to the limited amount of time before the event....the course will be very similar to the Cytomax Course.

Ya I'm going solo. Matt couldn't make it and John wouldn't commit, so blame it on them that the kick ass team didn't shape up. JK. John I need help training for this race, I could use your knowledge in how to train, and what to do in the race and what not to do.

ride, ride, ride. what i find that works 4 me is to really pace yourself. when the race starts, your all pumped up, adrenalin is flowin, you wana go fast. dont. remember, you have 23 hr more to ride! there will be a lot of people passing you all the time, thats o.k.. those riders are on a team and they are fresh! be consistant on lap times and go out a have a great time! just put laps in, before you know it, there is 12hr left. then 6,ect. for me, i block everybody out and focus on ridin for the finish. the ride we did last weekend is good indurance training! long rides will help alot! should be a blast, just go out and have a great time with your friends!its fun to find someone you can pace yourslf to and put in laps. i like to put in 100 mile road rides, it helps my indurance! lookin foward to 24 hrs w/ the buds. hope this helped a little.\\:D/ \\:D/ \\:D/
