It was never in Sagan's plans to be a contender for the overall. He is not that kind of rider. He is focusing on the green jersey and winning individual stages.

Phil: "The big boys crossed swords today, and a lot of them came up wanting." Classic!

    That was a great/brutal finish.

Now the Tour starts! It sucks that some of the players are out, but it's still going to be great racing. And at this rate there might only be three riders riding at the end!

"Leading into the climb we were doing 480 watts. It was really incredible how fast we went. The good thing is that this climb was nothing like most of the climbs we’re going to be on over the next two weeks. This climb was terrible," said the Slovenian"

Don't remember seeing Wiggins out of the saddle and mashing either. Pretty strong to be finishing a 22%'er like that.

Thought Garmin looked great coming out of Giro. This about sums it up for their first week.

And yea, most roadies fall on their left side when they crash. Proof positive.

Wiggins is dope. At/above where he was predicted to be at this stage.

This kind of looks like '07 again with Evans up agst. the stronger team (CSC) with big climbers in front of him. Froome can take him down as well as Wiggins - in the big mountain stages it will be interesting to see who Evans marks. Tejay came to life today and Evans has to get him on board for a big effort everyday.

Brits will be bonkers come Olympics time if this keeps up and they put two guys on the TdF podium. Big bucks aside, Sky has walked the talk.

That road was like a cheese grater. So many guys were chewed up in that crash.

No surprise today -- as far as who the yellow jersey would be at the end of the day -- but a lot of other surprises though. Wiggo and Froome put so much time into everybody. Evans really dug himself a big hole. Good to see TJ have a great time trial. If he can regain his climbing legs, he should be able to do well even while helping Evans.

Tony Martin was undone by his bike sponsor again (not that he looked to be able to put in a time to beat Wiggo) -- running prototype, ultra-thin/light clinchers in the TdF may not be a good time to do testing for the upcoming Olympics or World Championships. He punctured in the prologue and today.

Is it to save the drivetrain on the right side?

What's with the clinchers? I thought all pros rode tubulars?

Out of town for a few days so I am catching up on the TDF. I see the Sagan fan club is still in full force. Perhaps that is what the "S" in STR stands for. Funny how a guy does a local MTB race and suddenly everyone is on their knees in front of him. Here's to 2 more weeks of entertaining racing and forum posting.

I'm already experiencing the, "Tuesday Rest Day" blues!

TJ rocked! Glad he is back in white.
Knew Wiggins was good, I just didn't think he was THAT good!?!?!? He looked effortless! Must have been the bio rings and his alleged doping....(kidding).
