I cant make next week to the saddle becase I am doing PS. I would really like to hit that ride though so maybe set it up again later in the month or the begining of next? I am deffinitly going to do the front side of baldy very soon as oak glen was a killer (and so was wild wood canyon at 14%).

It was good rideing with everyone this after noon (Eric, Nick, Romeo, Jeff and Mike). I cant wait to see the masher bothers pictures. Big thanks to Romeo who helped with my broke rear dealer rable other wise I wouldnt have gotten back home. The bike is already in the shop getting all the cables replaced for next weeks ride.

    pain freek and slappy, FYI
"From what I hear AC from Islip towards Dawson Saddle is covered with snow. I made it within a couple of hundred yards of AC on 39 today but there was a frozen waterfall that had covered the road with about a 40 ft. long sheet of ice. Could have made it across but what was the point."

Well, we will be climbing the south facing side of the San Gabes so I'm hoping we will see some thaw, with the higher temps this week. Still we could probably get to over 6K before we'd have to turn around.

For anyone interested, mr.plow and I will be doing a loop up 39 past Crystal Lake to Mt. Wilson then down Big Tujunga to Pasadena this Saturday 2/12. Hoping to start around 6:30AM from Encanto Park. About 110 miles (subtract 9 if we skip riding to Mt. Wilson) and a lot of climbing. PM me for more info.

jeff^d - was PF's ride up 39 to Dawson and back cancelled or are you planning a separate ride? I think I will come ride one of them. Not sure if I can keep up with you guys tho.

Pain Freak's ride is still on (as far as I know). I have a "century-a-month" goal so wanted to make a bigger loop out of it. We're probably starting a bit earlier otherwise it would be fun to all climb up together. So far we have 3 riders, no speed goals either, we'll re-group as necessary.

At this time we are still planning an out and back to Dawson but if it changes we will post it up here. Our start time is 7:45 from Azusa.

    Uh-oh...Mike is giving directions...buyer beware. ;-)

The lighter Saturday option will be an out-and-back on Hwy 39. I will be leaving from my place at 7:45. The plan is to march up to Islip Saddle; perhaps onward to Dawson Saddle, road conditions and motor permitting.

    Ballpark: 50 - 60 miles, 6 - 7k

Post up if you can make it. Any questions can go to my personal aide, PF. :D

edit: removed Encanto Park meeting spot. See below post for directions to the 7:45 spot.

Thanks Jeff - I've been sitting at a desk all week here in Florida so not sure how the legs would respond on your longer climbier ride.

Mike, please let me know where to meet and what time - PM is best since it will show up on my crackberry. I don't much have time to log on to STR

Chris, our Dawson ride is an out and back. You can go as far as you want then just turn around. I've been sick since last week and haven't done a lick of exercise since last Saturday so I'm going to be hurting too. Come share the pain.
David I need to get the address to Good Ol Slappy's digs then I'll PM you.

Its the start in azusa that I can't make. My wife doesn't work on Saturday so I have to get my ride in and be home by like 11, maybe 12 at the latest. If I start somewhere that is an hours drive away, then I have to stop riding an hour sooner just to get home in time.

She does work on Sunday though and I am planning a big ride then, just not sure where yet.

Last Saturday, hwy 2 was closed @ Islip Saddle. Not just a closed gate, but snow all over the road.
