Looks like it will be a good turnout. My (Mike's) group is meeting at my place at 7:30, riding at 7:45. Huntington Drive and Calle Mariposa. Plenty of parking on either side of Huntington Dr.

what kind of clothes is everyone wearing? short sleeve and shorts or arm and leg warmers? The weather should be in the 50s at the top.

AWESOME turn out! 14. I would have liked to go farther but my tire issue was exactly that, and it kept reoccuring. Picking up new tires this week with my incycle birthday coupon. Dont want that to happen.

Thanks Mike and Nick for putting the ride together Sunday! My first time visiting Crystal Lake since I was 8 yrs old.
Very cool bunch of riders, for roadies :) It was a pleasure riding with you all. I did miss having Liz there though - hope you're feeling better Liz!
What a blast going back down the canyon - Chris and I were flying and even with the headwind hit 48mph.
Hope to ride with all again soon

This is what I am planning on doing this Sunday (should be decent weather). I really want to have ridden 75% of the breathless statistics before the event which would be 9000ft and 85 miles. This has it with 9600ft and 85 miles. The Baldy climb is very similar to 39 climb. Anyone else intrested? The only issue is this storm is suppose to be cold (i.e. high elevation snow) and that might draw additional traffic up the mountain to the lifts. If will deffinitly be cold again.

There was snow but you only saw it if you looked for it. For the most part it was a perfect day to ride. Cool and Sunny. I made it up Baldy with out stopping (woohoo!) except for of course to gather myself for the tunnels (I like to sprint through). Then down Baldy and over Baseline to GMR. Went up GMR but about half way though I felt funny. I was running low on liquid so I am guessing I was not drinking enough (it was pretty hot and I was covered head to tow) and getting dehidrated. Got some fluid from some other riders at the shack and carried on. Ran out of fluid about half way though the last climb and limped to the post office. Filled up and called in my personal taxi to meet me at the Upland Target. All in all it was about 65 miles with roughly 8500 ft. The last 10 miles were in the car but they were mainly rollers. I was short about 15 miles and 1000 ft of my palnned route but I am happy as that is by far the most climbing I have ever done.

Hey Mike I ran into a few of your friends. One at Incycle in Rancho (tall guy with a mustach, road Palm Canyon with us). And then two guys from your club ride at the top of GMR. Both had Hammer kits on I beleive.

Anyone riding this weekend? I was going to go hiking but that sounds like it is falling through. I may just ride up Baldy Road as far as I can instead.

Loren, I'm doing the Hemet Double tomorrow. They still have openings if you want to jump in. Total route is 204 miles with about 6,000' of climbing. I'm thinking this will be great training for Breathless.

Never down a double, going to be hot out there! Might consider a single century? My hike did fall through so I am rdiing somewhere (socalbiekforums has a small group doing GMR to the village and then they are doing east fork to 39).

headed up baldy again and got past the tunnels but when i stood and the wheels rubbed so i turned aorund and got them fixed, they were out of balence. Not good to have on a long ride or steep ride.

I've been exploring the local mtns solo the last couple weeks and found some amazing scenery.
Saturday I'm climbing some cool double track and fire roads here in Palmdale w/ST rewards at the top of the last climb. Probably only 5.5k ft of climbing but couple sustained 10-15% climbs of 1+ miles and one at about 3 miles. ST goodness at the top and then bomb run down ST and different fire roads back to the start. The loop should be about 35 miles of dirt and about 2 miles of pavement.
Sunday will probably do a local 50-60 mile road ride with about 3K climbing to recover from Saturday. If feeling good will add Bouquet and Spunky canyons for extra miles and elevation.
