So did you decide to be a hockey fan when the Ducks landed in your back yard?
True long time hockey fans are Kings fans. That's a fact. Sorry.....

Been watching hockey for 35 years.... Was a Kings fan through the Triple Crown years, through Gretzky and the McSorley curved stick; all the way up until the Ducks came and I had the opportunity to buy season seats and not have to drive an hour + in traffic to see live hockey. Did not seem right to be loyal to two local teams so I threw my allegiance to the Ducks. Your FACT is Bullshit... know your enemy before you pop off.

    Tree,

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend your hockey prowess. Who would have guessed you were a long time hockey and prior Kings fan, especially by the way you bag on them so hard. I just get a bit peeved at the bandwagon Ducks "fans" who are obnoxious and mock the Duck's opponent when they don't even know the difference between icing and off sides. It's one thing to be a passionate fan and it's another to be obnoxious. Yes, there are certainly obnoxious Kings fans as well, but I am not one of them. I am really just a fan of hockey. I will always wish the Duck's well, as long as it's not at the expense of the Kings and I certainly do not bash them just because they are not "my" team. It's great that we are fortunate to have 2 Socal hockey teams.
I certainly do not consider you an "enemy" and hope you understand a bit where I am coming from. Tell you what, if you end up going to the Ducks/Kings game at Honda center Feb 23, look me up and I'll buy you a beer.

Take care- I am going to go check out the Winter Classic.

What makes you assume Ducks fans are band wagon fans. My ex wife grew up in Philly and has been a hockey fan and gone to games since she was little. She knows more about hockey then just about anyone I know when it comes to rules, history and stats. She moved to California in 1991 and was a Flyers fan and hated the Kings. When the Ducks franchise started we got season tickets. It doesn't matter what the team it is.

the flyers played like crap, and the ducks had so many more good scoring opportunities. oh well.

They were probably just tired from beating the Kings so bad the night before.

I just caught the last 8 minute of the Duck's game and saw Hiller make one of the most insane saves I have seen in some time. Hockey is a strange sport where a team can be totally out played and still win soley because of the goalie. It's really strange how it seems the Ducks go on a roll when the King's slide and visa versa. Maybe one year they can both make the playoffs and face each other.
Too bad the Ducks pissed off and frustrated Chicago before they play the King's tomorrow....

I hear what you are saying. The first couple of years, sitting in the stands at the POND were brutal. "Fans" seemed to be there as a social gathering rather than for hockey. I spent many a night educating people on the rules of the game (icing, offside, two line passes....and on and on). I even had to convince someone that the band name "5 for fighting" actually came from hockey. After cheering on the Ducks for what is almost 1/2 my hockey life, it is easy to bag on the Kings as I do. Most is done in fun banter on this board as a well to build camaraderie with my fellow riders. Trust me, I still get grief from my dad and brother, who are both still hardcore Kings fans and have labeled me a traitor. My texts messages blow up any time the Kings win and the Ducks lose.

As for my "enemy" comment - I am simply referring to the DUCKS/KINGS rivalry and in no way mean that you are a personal enemy of mine. Not yet sure if I am going to the DUCKS/KINGS game in February, but if I do I will hook up with you and we will drink a beer in celebration of SoCal hockey!!

The game isn't even over and I am here to say how lame the Kings are right now. How lame? Sofa King lame. The Kings can beat the Sharks, Red Wings etc but can't beat the Preds? Really?

HA! We won! The fact that we almost lost being up 4 goals in the 3rd is besides the point. Man do they need to get their shi@ together...

Does any one else agree with the logic that switching up lines with a team that is not clicking and struggling will improve their play??

It makes no sense to me...

My little prediction is that the Kings will just squeak by making it look much closer that it should be on paper. Since the Leafs are on a little hot streak and the Kings are a little cold lately.
